Blom and Battan for County Council

by lewwaters

PoliticianBallots are out and even though most already know who they will vote for, many are still undecided on who should replace outgoing county councilors, David Madore and Tom Mielke, Madore resoundingly defeated and Mielke retiring after many years in public service.

I also wish to thank all four candidates in County Council races for their running clean campaigns and not resorting to the mudslinging we see all too often in legislative races and previous County Commission campaigns.

The primary election narrowed the field to John Blom and Tanisha Harris for the District 3 and Roman Battan and Eileen Quiring for District 4. I live in District 2 so I don’t have a vote in either election since our newly implemented County Charter changed how we vote in these races as well as moving from a three person County Commission to a Five person County Council.

Topper in the 49th, Pos 2

by lewwaters

stonier-topperEven though I have largely shied away from elections this year, sometimes information comes to me that I just have to share with my readers. This information also will see me changing from throwing away my vote in the 49th Pos. 2 race to voting for Alishia Topper over district hopping Monica Stonier.

I was planning on just not voting in this race since neither candidate aligns with much of my views, but that is no longer the case after seeing last evening how the WEA (Washington Education Association), the granddaddy of greedy teachers unions in our state, has spent over $320,000 in independent expenditures to get Monica Stonier back into the legislature while also spending over $28,000 in opposition to Alishia Topper.

This all the while as Liberals are constantly crying “get the big special interest money out of politics.”

One Fact Missed in the 17th District Senate Race

by lewwaters
Lynda Wilson, Tim Probst

Lynda Wilson, Tim Probst

As usual, the campaign promoting Democrat Tim Probst is messy and nasty with accusations being hurled about against Lynda Wilson, most with no basis in fact.

But in the midst of it all, there is one fact left out as people argue to return Democrats to control of the Senate. That fact is glaring and should be strongly considered by voters.

As we all know, the State Supreme Court ruled a couple years ago that the legislature failed in fully funding education and recently has pushed for some sort of an income tax and more taxation to raise more revenue to feed to the greedy teachers unions.

LULAC Campaign Forum

by lewwaters

While I remain in my extended break, I will share video of a campaign forum hosted by LULAC Thursday, Sep. 29. While predominantly Liberals and considering other events in support of Republican candidates was held at the same time, Kudos to Ann Rivers for being the only Republican in attendance.

I offer neither support nor opposition to any and was not in attendance. I post the video solely for your information.
