Yes, I Invited Katie Gillespie

by lewwaters
Katie Gillespie

Katie Gillespie

Once again, I seem to have raised the scorn of a few so-called Republicans for having the audacity to invite and approve the Columbian’s new County Government reporter, Katie Gillespie into the South West Washington Opinions facebook group.

The Columbian, better known by me as the Lazy C for the extreme lack of objectivity in political reporting, hired Gillespie to replace Stephanie Rice, one that did not have an objective bone in her body.

For a little background, it was also me that blasted Gillespie on my facebook page for quickly joining in on the C3G2 (Clark County Citizens for Good Governance) facebook group, a group that grew out of the failed recall effort of County Commissioners Madore & Mielke.

Mayor Leavitt, Tacky as Ever

by lewwaters

I can only imagine the uproar had Councilor Mielke, Sen Benton, Rep Pike or any conservative suggesting a trip to “Happy Hour” on closing out a speech, as did Mayor Leavitt at the 2015 State of the City speech?

Is that next drink what is important to the Mayor? Who really makes such a suggestion to an audience that also contains teenagers?

Dalesandro Announces Candidacy for Port Commissioner

by lewwaters

FWIW, I neither support nor oppose candidates this election. I defer all such actions to the self proclaimed better than me’s from the RPCCGOP.

Received in email this afternoon from Scott Dalesandro announcing his run for Vancouver Port Commissioner District 2

—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

DALESANDRO ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR PORT COMMISSION

Scott Dalesandro announces his candidacy for the Port of Vancouver Board of Commissioners, District 2. “The danger from oil trains is a real and serious situation for our community. We can do better. The Port is a strong economic engine that can bring good jobs to the region.” Dalesandro has over 40 years of logistics and transportation management experience and has closely followed Port operations for many years. “Now more than ever we need a voice on the board that has practical, industry-specific experience. If elected, I will work with my fellow commissioners and our community to ensure the Port operates safely, effectively, and with transparency.”

Spider Freezes Traffic

by lewwaters

An unusually large spider disrupted the I-5 northbound commute as it held off traffic trying to cross the bridge into Clark County about two hours.

I-5 Spider

Light rail would not have made it across either, Rep. Moeller 😉

“Think Before You Speak”

by lewwaters

This video was produced by a young lady named Kenzie Marcigan for her Senior Project and loaded to her facebook page with the request of “Shares would be awesome.” All rights belong with her and I hope she doesn’t mind that I am taking the liberty to share it off of facebook so others may view it.

This is an excellent and powerful message to our kids, but it is us grown-ups that need to realize the problem goes much deeper than the everyday cruelty of many kids.

Hypocrite Judging Hypocrite

by lewwaters

Amusing to see more wailing and gnashing of teeth from haters on the left with their intolerance of our Congressionally approved National Motto being displayed in the County Services Building.

Today it is evidence of leftist hypocrisy in a letter from a Carrie Parks: Bullying behavior disturbing where it is claimed,

“I was appalled by the amount of bullying that I, and others on the anti-motto side, experienced during the three hearings that were held at the county council.”

“People in our group were told we were going to be ‘judged,’ with the implication that we would go to hell. Several people were told to leave the country. One man shouted and swore at one of our women, calling her names. Another was called a ‘wackadoodle’.”

Updated: Thinking on Compulsory Union Membership

by lewwaters

Just a quick curious thought, considering that for once, the Lazy C gets it right in their editorial In Our View: Right to Work = Freedom (even a broken clock gets it right twice a day), and the usual slate of Liberal Democrat union lackey’s flock into the defend workers being forced to pay extortion in the form of union dues in order to hold a job.

But, considering that the Democrat Party employs people for various positions, what union represents their workers? Who do employees of the Democrat Party pay extortion to in order to work there?

Surely such a pro-union political party would gladly allow union representation for their paid employees, wouldn’t they?

What if Oil Companies Fought Back?

by lewwaters

screwedSeems hardly a day goes by that leftist twits bash oil companies and demonize oil, forgetting or ignoring the many benefits of the product.

Of late, we see them pushing hard to block recovery of it and even facilities to store and ship it to various destinations where it is transformed into any one of the many products we depend each day.

Hoquiam mayor calls for moratorium on all future oil facilities in city

Even locally we see efforts to deny the many family wage jobs that stand to be created: Vancouver extends moratorium on crude oil facilities
