Thoughts on Commissioner Stuart’s Cowardice

by lewwaters
Stuart Sneer 2

Steve Stuart

Reading comments left on County Commissioner Steve Stuart’s announcement of not seeking re-election, you would be led to think somebody real important had died. The Lazy C and supporters of Stuart’s sound more like they are eulogizing than thanking Stuart for his years sitting on the council, furthering their views, even if against the views of a majority in the county.

Stuart was first appointed to the County Commission to replace liberal Democrat Craig Pridemore, who had been elected as State Senator for the 49th legislative district. Stuart joined a Democrat majority on the three member commission along with Betty Sue Morris and Republican Marc Boldt.

His 2010 re-election would have it appear that he would be lone Democrat sitting on the commission as Republican Tom Mielke had won a narrow victory over Democrat Pam Brokaw in 2008 and Republican Marc Boldt had won re-election against Democrat & Vancouver City Council Member Jeanne Harris, but as we all saw, Boldt “moderated” his views and became more aligned with liberal Democrats in his votes with Stuart, leading to his being sanctioned by the local Republican Party and in 2012, slaughtered in his bid for re-election, losing to first time runner David Madore.

Moeller’s Response to Climate Debate Challenge

by lewwaters

As most know, Vancouver City Council member Bill Turlay, a retired US Navy aircraft pilot, challenged Washington State Rep. Jim Moeller (D 49) to an open debate on the claims of man-made global warming, climate change when it is shown the earth has been cooling instead of warming up. Last evening Mr. Turlay told of the sort of response he received from Moeller,

I wonder what his next excuse will be to not accept the challenge, even though he claims he and his fellow Democrats “have science… and lots of it” to support their view?

Duh, Jim Moeller

by lewwaters

I have often thought Jim Moeller (D 49) might not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but this comment he left on his facebook page, January 23, 2014 is a mind boggler.

Lazy C’s Rice Tips Over the Hypocrisy Scales

by lewwaters

Col. ScalesThere is little doubt that Southwest Washington is in sore need of a newspaper, a real newspaper that actually covers news, both locally and nationally and gives an objective view in articles. The poor excuse for a “newspaper of record” currently in Southwest Washington isn’t even fit to line the bottom of a bird cage, in my opinion.

But, even with my sour view of what amounts more to an ‘unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party’ than a news outlet, even I am surprised at their height of hypocrisy at times.

Such is the case with writer Stephanie Rice’s latest entry in their “All politics is local” section, Mielke’s plan for improving employee morale where she actually whines because, as she wrote, “Clark County Commissioner Tom Mielke has wielded his authority as chairman of the board to decree that the newspapers be kept out of sight.”

Lynda Wilson

Clark County Republican Party Chair Lynda Wilson will resign as Chair of the party effective January 31, according to a press release from the party issued earlier this morning. Wilson plans to focus her attention and energy on her upcoming campaign for the 17th Legislative District seat currently held by Democrat Monica Stonier.

In a letter addressed to the Executive Board, Wilson praised the party for their efforts and gains over the past year, citing their fund raising and technical future of the party.

Vice-Chair Steven Nelson, in accordance with the newly adopted party by-laws will be contacting PCO’s to schedule a special meeting where a new party chair will be selected.

Rep. Moeller Challenged to Public Climate Debate

by lewwaters
Jim Moeller

Jim Moeller

Democrat 49th legislative district Representative Jim Moeller is well known for his arrogance and “know it all” attitude and loves to portray himself and his fellow Democrats as the only people in the state who care about anything.

Such is the case back on January 8, 2014 when he commented to a Lazy C article, “Republicans on climate panel want more time.”

Moeller said, “Yes regretfully, only the Democrats seem to believe in doing something about climate change. It’s ‘nice’ to try and include the Republicans in the discussion about what to do but they have to look out for those who make money on pollution. The Democrats only have science – and lots of it.”

A Luau in Honor of the “Greatest Generation”

by lewwaters

Tiki 1December 7, 1941, the “date that will live in infamy” marked America’s entrance into World War II, what was to become the bloodiest conflict in recorded history that saw over 16 Million Americans putting on the uniform of one of the various branches making up our Armed Services.

When the world needed them the most, these men & women answered the call to fight a tyrannical enemy on the battlefields, in the air and on the open seas, prevailing four years later after over 400,000 of their number lay dead with another 670,000 wounded.

Five years later, 1950, many answered the call again to stand against another enemy to freedom in the small country of Korea, joining the younger men & women until a cease fire was signed 3 years later.

Lazy C “Capitulating” to One-Party Rule

by lewwaters

Commie 2As if we didn’t already realize that the Lazy C, the alleged ‘news’paper of Southwest Washington was little more than another leftist shill, an unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, the Sunday Jan. 5, 2014 “In Our View: Boehner Finds His Footing” gives ample evidence of it.

In praising Speaker of the House, Republican John Boehner, they say, “An emboldened John Boehner, after years of capitulating to the right wing of his party, suddenly has turned into The Most Interesting Man in Politics.”

Have you ever read or heard of anybody from the Lazy C, or any of the dinosaur lamestream media ever complain or even mention of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or even a local elected Democrat “capitulating to the left wing” of their party?

In fact, have they ever even hinted that the Democrat leftist agenda might be too far left and should “moderate?”

Train Derailment and Knee-Jerk Responses

by lewwaters

Oil Train FireIn spite of the cries over extended unemployment benefits being ended in Clark County, indicating the job situation might not be near as rosy as we are led to believe, there are those who would still hype the recent train derailment in North Dakota to use against job creation at the Port.

Let there be no mistake, I do not make light of the accident and in spite of the dangers such a derailment and fire posed for the small town of Casselton, seeing the towns people evacuated and subsequently returning in a short period, the lack of injury is noticeable.

As we saw in Canada, it could have been much worse.
