Terry Kelly, A Pittance of Time
As a young boy, I was really proud when I became a Cub Scout, then a Weblogs and finally a Boy Scout, rising to Life (I discovered cars & girls that occupied my attention in High School before earning my final merit badge to be an Eagle Scout), Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and enjoyed several years in the organization.
Camping, hunting, caring for the land we camped on and Patriotism are skills learned that have served me well, discipline I learned early serving me during my 8 years active duty in the U.S. Army and tours in Vietnam.
It is an organization that has taught many a young boy skills needed to go on to becoming great leaders of society.
For some years now, our media has basked in the glory of how they brought down the corrupt presidency of Richard Nixon back in 1974, causing him to be the only sitting president to resign office, so far.
In the succeeding years they became more and more focused on the conservative right, ignoring what the liberal left was doing and in fact, became little more than mouthpieces for the Democrat Party with their extreme bias against Republicans and anything conservative.
Cries of bias aimed at them were scoffed at and ridiculed, written off as sour grapes. Fox News came along and finally offered a real objective news source and they too have been ridiculed, lambasted and denigrated by the more lamestream media sources that can find no wrongdoing on the part of Democrats, but can blow anything concerning the GOP far out of proportion.
Clark County Washington is the largest county in what is considered Southwest Washington with a population nearing 450,000 people. With people often hungry for news, one would think an impartial news source would thrive catering to that population.
Unwittingly, the local newspaper of record, the Columbian, better known as the Lazy C reveals that they are considered a “mid-sized daily newspaper with a circulation between 25,001 to 65,000,” or at best less than 15% of the county.
While many reasons could be listed for such a minimal circulation in the county, partiality and lack of interest in many issues of concern has to be given attention.
While accused of being politically left and constantly denied by the Editor, it doesn’t take much looking to see that they indeed are a mouthpiece in favor of Democrats instead of an impartial source of political views.
Summer got an early start Saturday under a cool northwest cloudy sky and showers. For the balmy raining day the car turn out was tremendous, many people coming out to Boppin’ Bo’s for an afternoon of eats, cars and Rock n Roll.
The day started with decorating and loading a truck graciously supplied by Waste Connections with banners promoting the Clark County Veterans Court, sound equipment and of course, the entertainers to treat spectators lining the route of the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands to a taste of what they would find at Boppin’ Bo’s.
The lovely Petya Grozeva, Champion Fiddler Cynthia Hamm and Elvis Tribute Artist Mark Stevenz manned the float, singing and playing as the float slowly traveled the parade route.
One thing anybody with half an ounce of sense recognizes, it is the liberals propensity to always cry victim. They must be the eternal victim, even if they win and especially if they lose an election or whenever something doesn’t go their way.
We see the same attitude with the Lazy C Editor, Lou Brancaccio as his efforts to whip a large scale lynch mob mentality in the county over the County Commissioners hiring of Sen. Don Benton to head the County Department of Environmental Services basically falls flat on its face.
Brancaccio treats us to the Lazy C’s 32nd rant over the hiring by trying to proclaim nobody supports the decision of Commissioners Mielke & Madore because no one in elected office answered his call to come forward and defend the hiring.
To Brancaccio that translates to no support while ignoring that more and more elected officials are shying away from speaking with the mouthpiece on newsprint.
The Lazy C has a place on their site they call the “Open Forum” where those who wish to retain their anonymity can spew away their delusional thoughts without signing up for a facebook account to reveal who they are, unlike regular comments under every day articles.
The place is sort of buried, requiring you to click on Opinion, and then scroll to the right to forums, click there to open then scroll down to the week’s worth of rants to see what is there. Those who frequent it, mostly Libtards and a few Paulbots seem to refer to it as “the Basement.” I refer to it as “the Dungeon” where malcontents assign themselves as Dungeon Keepers to speak out in full anonymity, unwilling or unable to stand up for their views openly.
A Dungeon, more common during medieval times, were often seen as dark, cold, damp rooms built below castles where torture took place or people were thrown if they disagreed with the King or Queen and where freedom was lost while Castle Guards and Dungeon Keepers freely roamed to torture, ridicule or mistreat those imprisoned in them.
A prime example of this would be the impeachment proceedings of former President William Jefferson Clinton over his lying to Congress about sexual relations he was accused of having with a young White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.
The country became fixated on that scandal and the Republicans fell for it hook, line and sinker.
If you think back, Ken Starr was getting close to the Clinton’s in his investigation of the many scandalous acts of the Clinton’s when suddenly, news broke of he was receiving oral sex from a young intern and a dress had his semen on it. The country’s attention became fixated on that allegations while Republicans in the House launched impeachment proceedings over his lie of “Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you!”
We all saw just how pleased with himself Lou Brancaccio, Editor of the Lazy C, was for labeling County Commissioners David Madore and Tim Mielke as “M&M,” complete with a pack of M&M candies over a copy of the Lazy C, meant to be demeaning.
We also saw ex-Mayor Royce Pollard and ex-State Senator Craig Pridemore conduct a rally to whip people into a recall frenzy, even though they admitted they have no sound reason to launch one.
We now have our own acronym for Pridemore & Pollard, “the P P boys” since their goal is little more than peeing on Clark County citizens
Hitler gets wind of Don Benton being hired to head the Dept of the environment and realizes all of blustering and scheming with certain people won’t change a thing
There is little doubt that the Lazy C, legally known as the Columbian, the unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party is one of the poorest excuses for a newspaper seen. Their bias reeks as does their contradictions in articles often published.
It’s not unheard of to see one article one day boasting of home values increasing followed the next day by foreclosures increasing. With Democrats largely in control over the past few years, the Lazy C spared little ink to try to convince readers how well off they were, even though they obviously weren’t.
Now we see them setting a new record in bashing of a Republican with some 24 articles in a week blasting State Sen. Don Benton (R 17) along with Clark County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore, both elected by wide margins just this past November.
Even though the Lazy C admitted their act was legal and within the confines of a Commissioner’s duty, the two hiring 5 term Sen. Benton to also head up the County’s Environmental Department as set the Lazy C on a rampage as they have spent the last week whipping some people into a lynch mob frenzy over the hiring.
Legally registered under the title the Columbian, too many times they have exposed themselves as anything but objective, all too often working against the very community they hope to buy their product.
Blogs exposed the heavy bias in reporting when a Republican elected official was accused of wrong doing versus when a Democrat elected official was involved in an alcohol fueled sexual harassment scandal that continues to be covered when confronting cronista Stephanie Rice over denials of extreme lopsided coverage publishing 14 articles in 5 days for a Republican, followed by 2 over a month for a Democrat.
Route 66, once known as the Main Street of America since it was one of our early roads cutting through the heart of America. Its fame spawned songs, a hit TV show of the same name and epitomized the American love affair with our cars as many envisioned cruising down the highway, with the top down, listening to the cool songs of the era by the Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Jan & Dean and of course, Elvis Presley.
The once famous highway has been bypassed by modern Interstate Highways today and is but a historical memory, but our visions of cruising in a cool car, like a vintage Corvette remain imbedded in our souls as does the songs like ‘409,’ ‘Little Deuce Coupe,’ ‘Maybellene’ and so many more.
As we now know, Tim Mielke and David Madore directed County Administrator Bill Barron to begin the hiring process of Don Benton to head the County Dept of Environment, setting liberal heads exploding all, especially Liberal Envirowacko commissioner Steve Stuart who unceremoniously referred to it all as “BULLSHIT!”
His so called apology for his outburst notwithstanding, it appears that he, Stephanie Rice, Lou Brancaccio and everyone else down at the lazy c got it all wrong, again.
Benton is being hired, that much is true, but the smoke screen of circumventing the process, Benton does not meet the minimum qualifications and more is all wrong. It also brings into question Bill Barron’s sudden announcement of retirement, adding to the drama of just supposedly out of control the conservative County Commission is.
Liberal heads have been exploding all over Clark County Washington ever since it was announced that the County Commissioners desire to streamline the process and by a 2 to 3 vote, selected 17th Legislative District State Senator Don Benton to head the County’s environmental department.
County Administrator Bill Barron suddenly decided to retire by September 10, likely out of disagreement with the selection. The Columbian calls it an insult and liberals are incensed and flooding the County Commission with emails expressing anger.
The County Democrat party has even gotten into the act by issuing a call for people to flood Council Chambers Tue May 07 at 6:00 PM at the Public Service Building, 1300 Franklin St. to “discuss the error” of hiring Benton.
As this blog and others have posted for several years, Sen. Benton is likely one of the most hated officials in Clark County, largely due to his critical look at things like the middle class bankrupting CRC light rail project Democrats and the Columbian want built on the taxpayers backs.
Liberal heads in Clark County are exploding like never before as we see County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore direct County Administrator Bill Barron to begin the hiring process to hire State Senator Don Benton (R. 17) as the County’s director of environmental services.
The Columbian immediately went into meltdown finding a demonic looking photo of Benton to use in their rant last evening.
See County shocker: Benton tapped for top environmental job and the follow-up rant from acerbic Political Page Editor John Laird understudy, Stephanie Rice, Benton doesn’t appear to meet minimum requirements for county job.
