Would Monica Stonier Really Bring “Common Sense?”

by lewwaters

By all outward appearance, 17th Legislative District candidate for Representative, Monica Stonier is a lovely young lady and a good school teacher. But, she isn’t campaigning to be a teacher in Olympia, but a Representative of the people.

She has up an ad on facebook promising to “bring common sense solutions to government in Olympia.”

But, what “common sense” has she displayed so far?

Also by all appearances, she is a young lady hungry and eager to become a state representative. We know this as she was a candidate for the same seat in 2010, losing to Republican Paul Harris and not even gaining the endorsement of the very pro-Democrat newspaper, the Columbian, also known locally as the “unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party” in that years’ primary election.

Sort of by default, they did endorse her over Harris in the general while reminding voters, “she also sings pitch-perfect the talking point serenades of the Washington Education Association, the teachers’ union. Stonier shows no inclination to force public employees to incur the same pay and benefits sacrifices that private-sector workers have suffered.”

It wasn’t “common sense” displayed when she announced her intent to pursue the nomination to replace Jim Jacks in the 19th Legislative District, after he abandoned constituents’ mid-session in 2011 shortly after taking the oath of office amid scandal.

Although living in the 17th District, somehow Monica suddenly resided in the 49th District. Told she still had not established residency to qualify for the nomination, she told a tale of how she was in the process of moving her family into the 49th and really wouldn’t have the time to run.

And now she is back in the 17th, just a little over a year later.

Her hunger to be in politics seems rooted in her good fortune to have been named a delegate to the National Democrat Convention in 2008, but also appears equally misguided as she declared her Dedication to Obama over any dedication to the state or country or even students.

Then too, we saw no “common sense” displayed in her last minute act of desperation where she launched a smear campaign against Paul Harris in 2010.

But she now wants you to believe that she is who will “bring common sense solutions to government in Olympia.”

But where would she suddenly come up with such “common sense solutions?”

The answer to that lies in her act caught on camera at a recent League of Women Voters forum.

Stonier Eyes

If Monica shows that even she has to peek at her opponents’ notes for ideas or to see what ideas she brings, maybe the real “common sense solution” is to just go ahead and elect Julie Olson instead.

After all, if Monica herself looks to Julie Olson for answers, shouldn’t voters too?

  2. I notice she’s got “Gavel Down’s” support. That’s got to count for something.

    I don’t know what, exactly… but something.

  3. She has enough sense to change everything about herself from last election to this one. That’s got to count for something.

No, they don’t change spots, they just use paint to cover over the truth… Or the spots change positions to cover a new reality but they are still there.

  6. Just another union tool. For the most part they wouldn’t know common sense if it hit them in the face.

A strong minority of teachers are actually Republicans btw, but are forced to pay union dues and are largely unable to express their views openly for fear of being screamed down by pro-union loones.
