Obama’s Message to Unions

by lewwaters

I wonder just how many walk-outs he called for as a community agitator, organizer?

Barack, a wise old saying goes, “caution, place brain in gear before putting mouth in motion.”

Repeating the Mistake of 1986

by lewwaters

“Obama said the [immigration] overhaul must provide a ‘pathway to citizenship’ for the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., and that if Congress does not act ‘in a timely fashion’ he will propose a bill ‘and insist that they vote on it right away’.” CNN Report, January 29, 2013

Illegal Immigrant 1Apparently feeling he is more of a King now than a public servant, Barack Obama is not directing what Congress ‘must’ do and at his ‘insistence.’ In this case, he is demanding a repeat of the failed effort to curtail illegal immigration tried back in 1986.

Rewarding illegal activity not only does not work, it actually draws more illegal activity, evidenced by the words spoken by New York Democratic Representative Charles Schumer from a June 1989 New York Times article 1986 AMNESTY LAW IS SEEN AS FAILING TO SLOW ALIEN TIDE.

If Canadians Can See It, Why Can’t Our Government?

by lewwaters

Canadian M.P. Pierre Poilievre lays out precisely what led to and keeps America rushing over the cliff.

Why isn’t any of our elected officials screaming this from the roof tops?

Scariest is seeing that the interest paid on our debt will soon be funding 100% of China’s Military and other countries as well.

Where Does the 14th Amendment Grant Dictatorial Power?

by lewwaters

Obama, DictatorThe latest effort to impose dictatorial control over the American people comes from Democrat Senate Leader out of Nevada, Harry Reid as he lends his voice to those from last year in calling on Obama to simply bypass congress and raise the nation’s debt as he sees fit, claiming he is granted that authority under the 14th amendment, passed shortly after the Civil War.

One of three ‘Reconstruction Amendments,’ the 14th is comprised of 5 sections primarily stating freed slaves were citizens of America with the full legal rights of any other citizen in the first three section and the 4th section basically laying out that the U.S. was not responsible for nor would pay any debts incurred by the Confederacy during the war.

Section 5 grants congress the power to enforce the amendment.

Section 4 is where Democrats now claim to have the authority for Obama to bypass congress on raising our public debt, claiming it says, “the validity of the public debt of the United States…shall not be questioned.”

In total, Section 4 says,

Isn’t a Job Also a “Basic Human Right?”

by lewwaters

Union StrangleholdIt seems everywhere we turn today, some Progressive twit is declaring what they want to be a “basic human right.” Abortion, birth control, medicine, healthcare, a home, public transportation, recreational drugs, food and any number of other wants are declared basic human rights that should just be given to them, free of charge with someone else footing the bill.

But it seems that when it comes to a job, that is not a basic human right and judging by the actions unfolding as the Michigan legislature passes Right to Work legislation, you should not be able to have a job or work for a paycheck unless you are held hostage to a union.

No Foodstamps?

by lewwaters

From a July 2012 incident in Georgia, but I can’t help but wonder if they all voted for Obama’s reelection and how come none seem to have one of those 5.4 Million jobs Obama says he created?

Surely they weren’t all created in August and September, were they?

Liberals Heckle Children For Singing “God Bless the USA”

by lewwaters

Hecklers were saying, “The kids don’t even know what they’re singing!”

“They got something you tell them to say! It’s ridiculous! It’s sad, sad, sad. Y’all are going to burn in hell! You all burn in hell! Shame on you! Shame on you!”

“You Republicans come go to a Republican area and do that, we don’t do that here. This is ridiculous, this is sad. This is so crazy. This is sad.”

This is the level of discourse we see as Obama struggles to keep power.

“All This Just For A Flag?”

by lewwaters

If lip readers are correct, can Michelle Obama and her husband be any more disrespectful? Paying homage to those murdered on September 11, 2001, as Bagpipes played towards the end of the ceremonies they attended and as the American Flag is being folded, she is seen leaning into Barack Obama, apparently saying, “All this for a flag?” Barack seems to nod his head in agreement.

The Washington Times explains the disrespect shown, “Perhaps Mrs. Obama thinks that all the pomp and circumstance she experiences in her daily life has something to do with her, rather than the unofficial office she holds. If so she should disabuse herself of that notion quickly. The official gestures of respect shown to her are the same shown to any First Lady, and if she wasn’t married to the president she would be just another citizen.”

Recalling her frequent very expensive vacations and treatment to the very best there is, all at taxpayer expense, I can only nod in agreement with the Times as they say, “all this just for Michelle Obama?”

“Obama for America’s” AttackWatch.com makes no mention yet of this latest Obama gaffe.

Apologists are claiming she actually said, “I love how they fold the flag.”

Obama’s Magical Misery Tours Carbon Footprint.

by lewwaters

Amateur video of Obama’s Canadian built armored buses and the complete motorcade driving by a Ford dealership.

I can’t help but wonder just how much fossil fuel was wasted and pollutants were emitted from the tail pipe of both buses, all of those Police Cars, SUVs and other assorted vehicles in the procession, just so Obama could try to appear as if he actually cared about Americans.

Fox News reports, “Obama is barnstorming the heartland to boost U.S. jobs in a taxpayer-financed luxury bus the government had custom built — in Canada…”

From the looks of the motorcade, it appears he is boosting jobs,,,,,, for Saudi Oil Workers.

Debt Limit Increase Met Herrera Beutler’s Three Criteria

by lewwaters

Jaime voted for increasing the debt limit, along with several other Democrats and Republicans, against the wishes of the Tea Party. She said it “wasn’t an easy vote for me.”

Okay, but it seems to me she voted for the other proposals Boehner put forth that also raised the debt limit.

Listening to her explanation above, I can understand the first two criteria she outlines. But, for the life of me, I don’t understand how raising the debt puts a down payment on our staggering debt or how overspending is addressed by more increased spending.

I have never been able to balance my checkbook like that.

If the Chinese can get it, why can’t our congress?

“The only way the Americans have come up with to improve economic growth has been to take on new loans to repay the old ones. To eat May’s grain in April, however, will never be a permanent solution to a problem,” the official Xinhua news agency said.

Why Aren’t The Unions Fighting For Energy Sector Jobs?

by lewwaters

Labor Unions in the U.S. lay claim to a long and successful history of bettering the working conditions, promoting higher wages and gaining benefits for America’s working people. They claim standing up for the “little guy” against oppressive corporations and government efforts that may be perceived to hurt the working class. They claim they fight for jobs for Americans.

So why are they so absent in fighting for jobs available and waiting in the energy industry?

We read how the Longshoremen are fighting an effort at non-union jobs in the Port of Longview in shipping grain. But, where are they in the ongoing effort to block jobs at the Port of Cowlitz in shipping coal to China?

Does the powerful Longshoremen’s Union, that claims support for other Labor Unions not realize that there is a United Mine Workers Union in Wyoming that will lose their jobs if there is no shipping of the coal mined?

Will We Ever Get Serious About Our Energy Needs? Part 1

by lewwaters

Ever since the 1973 Oil Embargo gave America long lines waiting to purchase gasoline for our vehicles and escalating prices, we keep hearing how we must end our dependence on foreign oil, seek alternative energy sources, conserve, drill our own or what have you. Democrat or Republican, it didn’t matter, all gave us rhetoric and lip service while we blue collar, middle class Americans suffered with higher expenses and less choices in what we choose to drive.

In a way I was lucky during the 1973 oil crisis, I was still in the U.S. Army and stationed overseas in the country of Germany that saw a much greater embargo of oil from the Middle East than did America. I say I was lucky because we did not have gas lines over there and during the height of it all the German Government banned driving on Sunday, save taxi cabs and emergency vehicles. We in the Military who stood weekend duty had to seek a driving pass to be prominently displayed inside of the car to be out driving and even then, we could only drive to and from our duty. I never had to sit in a gas line until I returned to America in March 1974 and then only a few times as the crisis eased shortly after my return.

I am struck that ever since that time, nearly 40 years ago, we continue to hear much of the same rhetoric coming from politicians of both parties and still, very little, if anything has actually changed. We still hear the calls of conserve, we are running out of oil, make cars more efficient, drill our own, don’t drill our own, we need to get off of foreign oil, whatever, much of the same rhetoric from 1973 is still heard in 2011.

Republican President Richard Nixon, in office at the outset of the oil crisis went before the nation early on November 25, 1973 outlining a series of steps called for to minimize the impact, both to the economy and to our personal lives to weather the crisis. He also announced the appointment of an “Energy Emergency Action Group to analyze the situation on a continuing basis and to advise him of all actions required to deal with it.”

Will We Ever Get Serious About Our Energy Needs? Part 2

by lewwaters

In his January 19, 1978 State of the Union address, President Carter proclaimed,

“We here in Washington must move away from crisis management, and we must establish clear goals for the future, immediate and the distant future, which will let us work together and not in conflict. Never again should we neglect a growing crisis like the shortage of energy, where further delay will only lead to more harsh and painful solutions.
Every day we spend more than $120 million for foreign oil. This slows our economic growth, it lowers the value of the dollar overseas, and it aggravates unemployment and inflation here at home.
Now we know what we must do, increase production. We must cut down on waste. And we must use more of those fuels which are plentiful and more permanent. We must be fair to people, and we must not disrupt our Nation’s economy and our budget.
Now, that sounds simple. But I recognize the difficulties involved. I know that it is not easy for the Congress to act. But the fact remains that on the energy legislation, we have failed the American people. Almost 5 years after the oil embargo dramatized the problem for us all; we still do not have a national energy program.”

As inflation began to spiral higher, in his January 25, 1979 State of the Union address, President Carter called upon Congress

“to take other anti-inflation action–to expand our exports to protect American jobs threatened by unfair trade, to conserve energy, to increase production and to speed development of solar power, and to reassess our Nation’s technological superiority. American workers who enlist in the fight against inflation deserve not just our gratitude, but they deserve the protection of the real wage insurance proposal that I have already made to the Congress.
To be successful, we must change our attitudes as well as our policies. We cannot afford to live beyond our means. We cannot afford to create programs that we can neither manage nor finance, or to waste our natural resources, and we cannot tolerate mismanagement and fraud. Above all, we must meet the challenges of inflation as a united people.”
