The following video was produced by the city of Houston, Texas and the Department of Homeland Security as a training aid to inform citizens of how to react and what to do to survive an active shooting incident like we have seen lately. While there is some excellent advice, depending on the exact situation a person my find themselves in and of course, the location, they do not mention getting the proper training on the use of a firearm, arming yourself and being prepared to use it if need be.
It is unlikely that any of us would ever be faced with such a situation, but not as unlikely as it once was. It could happen in a location where you cannot run, cannot hide or do not have anything to improvise as a weapon to defend yourself. Buying a gun alone is not good enough. You must be trained, maintain proficiency and be prepared to take a life. If not, you should not arm yourself.

Last Thursday, July 5, 2012, Mark Engleman, ‘Republican’ Precinct Committee Officer, precinct 190 sent out an email blast titled, “The New Clark County Conservative Movement – Addressing persistent misinformation” where he appears to make an effort to whitewash efforts at stacking PCO positions within the Clark County Republican Party by placing selected people in PCO slots to bring about a power shift.
First, let me assure you this effort has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Clark County Conservative blogsite and judging by past comments left by Mark and others, this movement stands opposed to the positions taken and expressed by the Clark County Conservative blogsite, even though they decided to use the name of this blog in their movement.
Let there be no confusion there. This blog has been in existence and active since June 2008, just over 4 years. This “movement” came about just a couple months ago.

It seems every election cycle, politicians come before us speaking in glowing terms of themselves and all too often, making promises they have either no intention of keeping or are unable to keep once in office and reality smacks them up side their heads. We have come to expect candidates to “stretch things a little” as each goes on voyages of disinformation, embellishing their record or ripping apart the candidate they are running against.
Most voters see it for what it is and either discard it or if egregious enough, call them on it. But not all see through the distortions and questionable claims.
Ron Paul is one who frequently goes on that voyage of embellishment, fantasy, revision of history and twisting of a truth to make it appear entirely different, not unlike Michael Moore’s many fantasy “documentaries” where truth is distorted until it fits the view he desires to be imparted upon those present.
In spite of being revealed many times, Paulbots, the more militant wing of Ron Paul supporters, casts aside any and all exposing of their messiah and clinging to his words as if listening to Jesus speaking the Sermon on the Mount. In fact, some have equated Ron Paul to Biblical Prophets.
But unlike Ron Paul, neither Jesus nor the Prophets found in the Bible ever felt the need to distort or embellish upon the truth.

In what supporters of Paul label “photobomb,” a Ron Paul supporter jumps in front of another candidate as someone is trying to have a photo taken with that candidate and flashing a Ron Paul sign. The rudeness doesn’t matter to Ron Paulies as they encourage this sort of behavior. Some comments left under this photo from supporters,
Pierre Rochard Excellent photobomb. Juan Posadas got’em coach. Daniel Barry nice encroachment !!! Steven Hunter Awesome! Zac Holm thats the stuff. Rachel Bolch Thach That’s freaking awesome! In keeping with the Columbian’s light hearted poke at elected officials recently, comparing them to Muppet characters, I made a little comparison of my own in regards to the editors of the paper. Lou Brancaccio was compared to Count von Count and he got a kick out of it. I was unable to find a Muppet character that adequately depicts acerbic editorial page editor John Laird, though, and ended up seeing he was very much like the cartoon character Gargamel from the Smurf’s.
Beyond some physical resemblance, He displays the same attributes of being “the sworn enemy of the Smurfs and the principal antagonist,” except in our community, he is the sworn enemy and main antagonist of conservatives.
In fact, as far as I’m concerned, he displays everything that is wrong in our political landscape today, as can be seen in his Sunday, June 26, 2011 column, Food fights, hounds, science and more.
Also refreshing is seeing some liberals waking up to his bombastic blasting of conservatives, as did local Democratic Party activist Temple Lentz.
Temple rightfully points out that Laird is “personally insulting and debasing people who disagree with him.” He has a history of doing this, labeling those who disagree with him on bringing light rail from Portland to Vancouver as “ankle biting hounds from Whinerville” and such.
