Organizing for America Misleads On the “Rape” Of Healthcare Reform

by lewwaters

In yet another blatant attempt to pull the wool over the average American’s eyes, Organizing for America, a decidedly pro-Obama far left group has placed a video online that, if taken at face value, deludes taxpayers and the masses into believing all the cares and worries you have had are over.

Organizing For America Video

While the video is very professionally done and appealing, down to the inclusion of Obama’s signature logo at the end and such appealing music with the soft “about time” spoken in the background, reality has begun to set in with some who couldn’t wait for the new “freebie.”

McClatchy Newspapers, not exactly the most conservative of sources, recently brought much of this out with their article, Health care overhaul spawns mass confusion for public.

Telling us of how insurance companies, doctors’ offices, human resources departments and business groups have been deluged with calls asking to sign up, we read of a reply given from eHealthInsurance.com’s Carrie McLean who says,

“We tell them it’s not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014.”

And, those “pre-existing conditions” the video so prominently mentions are now covered and cannot be refused? McClatchy says in the article,

“Adults with pre-existing conditions are frustrated to learn that insurers won’t have to cover them until 2014 (though those under 18 will be protected in late September); then they become both hopeful and confused upon learning that a federal high-risk pool for them will be established in the next few months.”

And, those tax cuts and benefits? Most have no idea that what their employers pay for their health insurance they receive through work are now taxable income to be reported on your W-2 every year.

That’s right. If your employer spends $3,000 for his portion of your health insurance, you pay taxes on $3,000 more in income every year.

OFA speaks of how small business will be helped by this. The National Federation of Independent Business’s Michelle Dimarob, manager of legislative affairs states,

“the lobby’s primary concern was that its costs would rise over the next four years as a result of fees, taxes and coverage mandates related to the overhaul. The next question that comes out of their mouths is, ‘What do I have to do right now?’ They need to start talking with their accountant, depending on how they’re organized, what industry they’re in and whether they’re offering insurance now and what kind they’re offering. We’re suggesting they talk to their agent or broker.”

Ms. Dimarob also says,

“While Obama has been touting a tax credit for small businesses that offer employees health coverage, many small businesses wouldn’t be able to participate. First they must do research to see whether they qualify. It requires them to understand the intricacies.”

And, Americans now will have “more choices?” Not according to the April 6, 2010 New York Times article, In Medicine, the Power of No that says,

“Learning to say no more often will be a three-step process, and if the new agencies created by the health act are run well, they can help with all three.”

Add to the mix comments from supporters, such as those by Florida Democrat Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz trying to convince constituents that the “Health Care Law Doesn’t Require Individuals to Buy Insurance.”

No Debbie, you just get hit with stiff fines if you don’t. Or, as her press secretary puts it,

“You have a choice of insuring yourself with affordable coverage, or paying an assessment that will offset the burden you place on other insured Americans and taxpayers by not being insured.”

Little wonder Obama has had to “embark on a years-long public education campaign about the overhaul” still trying to sell it after it is now law and Pelosi claimed that first, “the bill must be made law before we can see what’s in it.”

Cries from supporters of “just relax, accept it, it’s law now” are tantamount to me of telling a woman in the midst of a violent rape to “just relax and try to enjoy it.”

Ask yourselves, if it is really all that beneficial, why the need to hire 17,000 new IRS agents to “ENFORCE IT?”

As more voters wake-up to how elected officials just voted to “rape” the citizenry, will it be enough of them to vote these usurpers of our constitution out this November?

Or will you just continue to keep your head down and keep trying to convince yourself that this rape of the American taxpayer actually feels good?

Herrera Follows Castillo To KOIN 6 Early A.M. Interview

by lewwaters

Jaime Herrera, Representative for the 18th Legislative District hoping to replace Democrat Brian Baird in the 3rd Congressional House seat since he anounced retirement, is announcing she too will have a 6 A.M. interview on KOIN 6, as did David Castillo earlier in the month.

Herrera hopes to discuss “health care, jobs and this important race for Washington’s 3rd Congressional Seat.”

For those who don’t wake up that early, KOIN 6 made Castillo’s video available online and I’m sure they will Herrera’s as well.

Citizens Support Rob McKenna

by lewwaters

Rob McKenna, Washington State Attorney General, was well supported Saturday, March 27, 2010 on the Washington State Capitol steps as more than 2,000 citizens rallied to express support for his joining in with 13 other states in filing a lawsuit against Barack Obama’s takeover of our Medical Insurance Industry.

KOMO News Seattle described it as Rock star reception for health plan rebel McKenna while the Olympian headlined it as “I represent you,” McKenna tells large crowd of supporters on Capitol steps and trying to write off attendance as a mere 850.

Sorry, Olympian, but Washington State Police told us it takes 2,000 people to fill Capitol steps and not only were those steps filled, the crowd spilled over to half fill the street between the Capitol Building and the Temple of Justice.

Obviously referring to governor Gregoire’s words, “I completely disagree with the Attorney General’s decision and he does not represent me,” McKenna opened his 15-minute speech with, “My name is Rob McKenna and I represent you.”

The Capitol steps erupted in loud applause and vocal approval.

His speech centered on individual freedom and opposing mandating citizens to purchase a product as he stated, “We are not bringing this case to defend the state’s rights to impose an individual insurance mandate on us, we are bringing this case to defend your rights of having it imposed upon you.”

At one point, he acknowledged that most gatherings at the Capitol Building usually result in the people assembled standing below the speaker at the top of the steps and how it is more fitting that he stand below at ground level as the citizens filled the steps of “their Capitol” with their backs towards the Legislature, which has been steadily piling more taxes and fees upon Washington taxpayers.

Republican state Senators. Mike Carrell and Val Stevens and Republican state Representative Tom Campbell followed with speeches of their own, supporting McKenna and informing those present of Legislative steps being taken to oppose forcing Washington Citizens being forced to comply with the Healthcare Insurance reform against their will.

Clark County resident Tom Niewulis inspired the crowd as he made an appearance in the guise of Samuel Adams.

A few candidates also made appearances and spoke after talk-radio hosts Kirby Wilbur and David Boze. David Castillo and Jaime Herrera, both seeking to win the 3rd Congressional District seat being vacated by Democrat Brian Baird spoke, as did David Hedrick, seeking the same seat.

Art Coday, hoping to unseat Democrat Murray also gave a short presentation.

I am sure other candidates spoke as well, but I missed their speeches as I fell back to speak with McKenna and others who had gathered.

McKenna seemed appreciative when I told him that I have not always supported him and probably opposed many of his stances in the past. But, he has my total unwavering support in this.

Milling about as the crowd began dispersing, I was particularly pleased to meet and speak with Col. Pham Huy Sanh Sr. (Ret), Executive Board Chairman of the Republic Of South Viet Nam Armed Forces Veterans Confederation of Washington State.

That South Vietnamese showed up in support of McKenna’s stand speaks for itself, they not wanting to see their adopted country fall to communism as did theirs when our Democrat led Legislature completely abandoned the struggling ally in April 1975.

In all, the rally went well without incident. No anarchists or other liberal/oppressive appeared to make trouble. Speaking with State Troopers afterwards, they acknowledged we conservatives cause them no worries when we gather and are well behaved.

To Governor Christine Gregoire, I hope you heard us from the Governor’s Mansion. The support showed Rob McKenna on this issue greatly minimized the 50 or so of your followers who protested outside of the Attorney General’s office Friday.

Why don’t you open your ears and see that you are the one going against the will of “We The People.”

Some Americans Are Too Rich?

by lewwaters

Redistribute the wealth? When does Baucus, Dodd, any of the Kennedys, Kerry or any one of the socialist Dictacrats begin redistributing their own obscene wealth? Shouldn’t they show their sincerity by redistributing their own first?

The 50 Richest Members of Congress

From Roll Call,

“Although Baucus ranks last in the chamber’s tally, District of Columbia property records show he sold his Georgetown home in late April for $2.1 million, shortly after he announced his divorce from his wife, Wanda. D.C. property records also report Baucus purchased a new three-bedroom Capitol Hill home in June, now valued at $907,000. Baucus will not be required to reveal these transactions in next year’s filing.”

Is Baucus hiding his wealth while trying to take yours?

Wake up, America.

RALLY TO SUPPORT ATTORNEY GENERAL ROB MCKENNA

by lewwaters

Great Rally, read about it HERE

Received today in email;

Among all of the elected officials on both the state and national level who continually prove themselves to be bad decision makers, there are a few who do choose to stand up for what is right.

Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna recently proved himself to be a public servant who belongs in the latter category. By joining together with other AGs from across the nation to challenge the constitutionality of the Health Care Reform bill, AG McKenna has shown that he is interested in fighting on behalf of those he serves, the people.

However, he is currently facing huge opposition to his decision on all levels. Governor Gregoire and many of our state legislators are trying to find ways to block him, and there is a protest scheduled to take place in front of his office in the Highways and Licenses Building (1125 Washington St, Olympia, WA) on Friday, March 26 at 10:00am.

We need to show Rob that there are people in Washington who will stand with him in this fight! Please consider joining Americans For Prosperity and We The People – Vancouver for their Support Rob Rally this Saturday!

Governor Gregoire Must Resign or Face Recall

by lewwaters

Governor Christine Gregoire, first elected as Washington States governor in 2004 and under some fishy circumstances, is now working against the desires of voters within our state and has led our state to near bankruptcy.

She must resign or be recalled and soon. We can little afford to see her finish her term to 2012.

Her arrogance has gotten out of hand and she has shown that the will of the people does not matter to her. She no longer represents the people of Washington State, but represents the interests of her party and the deep pockets that have elected her twice now.

Under her domination, state spending has drastically increased, taxes have increased and we voters have had our voices ignored.

She has lied on not wanting to implement an income tax, unconstitutional in our state.

We are bankrupt and in deeper debt than ever and her answer is to stick it to voters, the taxpayers, and us with no regard to our well being or desires.

She was all to happy to sign away the will of the people of Washington state and to deny us our right to know how our elected officials voted on more tax increases when she signed the suspension of I-960.

And now, she has even gone beyond that! Seattle Times.

As I touched on earlier today, Attorney General Rob McKenna has announced he intends to join in with other states in filing lawsuits in opposition the recent unconstitutional seizure of our healthcare system voted in by House Democrats March 21, 2010.

Several states see this seizure as usurpation of states right, violation of the Tenth Amendment and places an even larger burden on our already over stretched budget. Every poll I have seen on this vote clearly shows the overwhelming majority of American Citizens and Washington State citizens are angry and opposed at the Democrats seizure of our healthcare system in this manner.

Governor Gregoire, totally ignoring the will of the very people she has sworn an oath to “support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the state of Washington, and [to] faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Governor to the best of [her] ability.”

She has violated that oath by her actions listed above and now, she once again violates our trust by attacking Attorney General Rob McKenna over his standing up for the people of Washington State in fighting this unconstitutional seizure of our healthcare system.

Gregoire has said,

“I don’t know who he represents. He doesn’t represent me. I don’t think he represents a million and a half Washingtonians that will be helped by this. I don’t think he represents small business that will be helped by this. I don’t think he represents Medicare people who will be helped by this.”

Can she be that out of touch with her constituents?

AG McKenna represents me, Governor. He represents the approximately 650,000 taxpayers seeking jobs. He represents every taxpayer that sees their tax bill keeping them from providing properly for their families. He represents those who can ill afford to pay the federal fine for not having government approve and mandated health insurance. He represents every single person in our state that is tired of the budget deficits and rising taxes and tired of being raped by spend happy Democrats who pass oppressive taxes, fees and charges that you sign into law.

That’s who he represents, Governor.

Who do you represent, Governor Gregoire? Surely not the people of Washington State who must bow before your gilded throne of power.

In her arrogance, Gregoire adds,

“[I] told him to ‘get ready to represent me’ because [I] intend to file a legal brief opposing McKenna’s action.”

Gregoire then said she believes he had a ‘duty’ to consult with other top state officials before agreeing to sue the U.S. government.

The unmitigated gall of this woman to speak about “duty” after her treatment of Washington citizens and violating our trust. When has she shown any sense of “duty” towards us?

The very first section of the Washington State Constitution says, “

All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.”

Our constitution also says at

SECTION 33 RECALL OF ELECTIVE OFFICERS. Every elective public officer of the state of Washington expect [except] judges of courts of record is subject to recall and discharge by the legal voters of the state, or of the political subdivision of the state, from which he was elected whenever a petition demanding his recall, reciting that such officer has committed some act or acts of malfeasance or misfeasance while in office, or who has violated his oath of office, stating the matters complained of, signed by the percentages of the qualified electors thereof, hereinafter provided, the percentage required to be computed from the total number of votes cast for all candidates for his said office to which he was elected at the preceding election, is filed with the officer with whom a petition for nomination, or certificate for nomination, to such office must be filed under the laws of this state, and the same officer shall call a special election as provided by the general election laws of this state, and the result determined as therein provided. [AMENDMENT 8, 1911 p 504 Section 1. Approved November 1912.]

My fellow citizens, we not only have the right, we have the duty to stand up to these tyrannical politicians who continue to tax and spend the state, and us, into bankruptcy.

We must stand together and in a loud voice demand that Governor Gregoire resign her office. If she will not voluntarily step aside due to her egregious conduct, we must begin legal proceedings to remove her by recall,

UPDATE: I have set up a facebook page open to all interested as an initial step for getting this effort going. Recall Governor Gregoire

Lend your voice and expertise and let’s actually do this.

Breakdown of Medicare Expenditures

by lewwaters

Pelosi and Obama say this seizure of the healthcare system will reduce deficits?

Not according to Mercatus Center of George Mason University.

“This chart by Mercatus Center senior research fellow Veronique de Rugy uses data from the Social Security Administration to illustrate long-term projections of Medicare revenues from premiums and payroll taxes (blue) along with projected transfers into Medicare from the federal government (red) and the projected deficits in Medicare’s Hospital Insurance Fund (orange); when summed these components add up to total long-term Medicare expenditures.”

Attorney General McKenna To Join States In Anti-Healthcare Lawsuits

by lewwaters

From the Seattle Times

Posted by Jim Brunner

OLYMPIA — Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna says he will join a multi-state lawsuit challenging the health-care law just approved by Congress.

In a statement, McKenna, a Republican, said he believes the measure’s requirement that everyone buy health insurance is unconstitutional.

“I believe this new federal health care measure unconstitutionally imposes new requirements on our state and on its citizens. This unprecedented federal mandate, requiring all Washingtonians to purchase health insurance, violates the Commerce Clause and the 10th amendment of the US Constitution.”

“I’m concerned that the measure unconstitutionally requires all Washingtonians to purchase health insurance and places an extraordinary burden on our state budget by requiring Washington to expand its Medicaid eligibility standards in violation of our state’s rights guaranteed under the 10th amendment.”

Rob McKenna threatened such a lawsuit back in December

Castillo: “Don’t Give Up. We Can Still Take Back America.”

by lewwaters

A message from David Castillo, Republican candidate for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.

Dear Friends

Many of you know that I decided to run for Congress in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District because I am very concerned about the America that my four year old son is going to inherit. Last night, Democrats in Congress made his road to success extremely difficult.

While most Americans were enjoying a Sunday evening with their families, liberals in Congress voted to allow the Federal government to take over 1/6th of the American economy. Without one shot being fired, the Federal government is now able to exercise a level of control over you and your family that was unheard of just two short years ago.

As I make calls to friends and supporters, I am struck by just how discouraged many of them are. Many people believe that this vote was the beginning of the end of a truly free America. Too be honest, I have been a little discouraged as well and I have the same concerns. But we cannot give up.

While Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama don’t – I do believe in an America where people succeed or fail based upon their own merits. I believe in an America that provides an opportunity for every citizen regardless of their station in life. I believe in an America that provides an opportunity for a poor, multi-ethnic kid from rural Washington State to work for the President of the United States. We must save OUR America.

This is not the time to get frustrated and do nothing. I ask you today to please take a stand with me and make a secure online contribution to my campaign of $5, $50, $100 or $500.

I am the only person running in the 3rd Congressional District who has been both a small business owner and a senior government official. I have served my country in the United States Navy, at the highest levels of government, and through job creating activities as a business owner and businessman. No one else running can match the depth and breadth of experience I am bringing to this campaign.

We know now – more than ever – that we cannot trust our future to unqualified, untested politicians. We must have servant leaders who are only concerned with restoring the American dream. That is the kind of leader I will be for you, the people of the 3rd Congressional District, and America.

Today, I am asking for your help. I realize times are tight; but I cannot make a difference without the resources to continue this fight.

Please make a secure online contribution to my campaign today of $10, $50, $100, $500, or whatever you can afford. DONATE NOW

Together we can continue this fight to restore the American Dream!

God Bless America.

P.S. Our moment is at hand! They have gone too far and we have an opportunity to take back our country – our freedom. We can do this together and you can help by making a secure contribution to my campaign today at www.castilloforcongress.com.

Brian Baird voted yes to this healthcare takeover. Likely nominee for the Democratic Party, Denny Heck, continues to not take a clear stand on the issue of healthcare. Baird has endorsed Denny Heck, leading to believe they will be one and the same.

David began calling on opponents to make their stand clear to voters in February and just last week, fellow GOP competitor Jaime Herrera, joined with David Castillo in this call.

This race is too important to allow things to continue as they are. Our basic freedoms are at stake.

Please visit David Castillo’s website and see for yourself why I feel he is the best candidate equipped to represent the will of the people in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.

Baird Sells Out Constituents Again

by lewwaters

Breaking News Alert from Fox News, “Democratic Rep. Brian Baird Changes Vote to ‘Yes’ on Health Care.”

Polls in the Columbian and Centralia Chronicle all show massive majority disfavor over this socialist takeover. Baird, retiring at the end of this term, has played constituents, claiming he was “undecided,” when throughout his career he has supported such legislation.

Centralia Chronicle

The Columbian

Your legacy is dead, congressman.

We will watch to see what sort of “appointment” you receive in the future to give you your thirty pieces of silver in selling out your constituents.

You had a chance to go down in history as actually representing your district.

Instead, you are just another Judas.

Don’t even think you are going to be welcomed back in this community with open arms.

Herrera Joins Castillo In Calling For Heck To Take A Clear Stand

by lewwaters

Jaime Herrera, hoping to secure the GOP nomination to replace retiring Democrat, Brian Baird, has joined with GOP nominee competitor, David Castillo in calling for the presumed Democratic nominee in the 3rd Congressional District Race, Denny Heck to take a clear stand on the healthcare bill now poised to pass, which a clear majority of American citizens oppose.

Castillo issued a News Release February 27, 2010 calling on opponents to make their position clear on the pending healthcare legislation.

Castillo, making his stand clear to voters, at the time stated, “Clearly, I will not be supporting Nancy Pelosi for speaker or her health care plan, but the people of southwest Washington deserve to know where the Democrats in this race stand on the issue,” as he called on the declared Democratic candidates, State Senator Craig Pridemore, Maria Rodriguez-Salazar, Denny Heck and Cheryl Crist to make their stand known.

Denny Heck has yet to state a clear stand. Castillo’s campaign page includes a counter waiting on Heck to stand up and let voters know his position.

Herrera issued her call on her facebook page and also placed the call for Heck to take a stand on her campaign page as well, adding her voice to Castillo’s in calling for Democratic challengers to make their stand known.

State Senator Pridemore made his stand clear in a March 6 Columbian article saying, “Let me be clear: I believe that Democrats in Congress should pass the bill, include a public option, and if necessary, use the reconciliation process to get it done,” clearly willing to thwart the will of voters.

In the same article, Democrat Denny Heck gave only a vague reply as he stated,

“I specifically favor those measures that will provide more people with affordable health care,” he said. “I will freely admit I have not read the 2,000-page bill.”

He said the public is tired of the debate over how Congress is going about trying to pass or block health care reform.

“I don’t think people give a hootenanny about the nature of the process as long as it’s transparent and solves the problem,” he said. “I think Democrats and Republicans both embarrass themselves by not stepping up to this problem. I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t believe that Congress is dysfunctional.”

Both Castillo and Herrera have consistently made it known they oppose the healthcare bill as it currently is.

I congratulate Jaime Herrera in lending her voice to David Castillo’s call for Denny Heck to come out and take a clear stand on where he stands.

Welcome aboard, Jaime. It’s good to see you join with David Castillo in this call.

Caterpillar Says Healthcare Will Cost It $100M

by lewwaters

Caterpillar Corporation, still struggling in this economy in spite of Barack Obama’s much-vaunted claim in February 2009 that his stimulus bill will enable the company to rehire laid-off employees, has announced the pending seizure of the healthcare and insurance industries will cost them $100,000,000 once enacted.

In February 2009 Obama said at the Caterpillar plant, “Jim, the head of Caterpillar, said that if Congress passes our plan this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off. And that’s a story I’m confident will be repeated at companies across the country, companies that are currently struggling to borrow money selling their products, struggling to make payroll, but could find themselves in a different position when we start implementing the plan…”

Well, we all saw how well that worked out as unemployment skyrocketed in to double digits in most states.

Unfortunately, in regards to Obama’s claim, ‘Jim’ said, “I think, realistically, no. The honest reality is we’re probably going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again.”

A year later and facing another of Obama and the Dictacrat cartels brilliant plans, Caterpillars vice president and chief human resources officer, Gregory Folley sent a letter to the Queen bee herself saying, “these provisions would increase [our] insurance costs by at least 20 percent, or more than $100 million, just in the first year of the health-care overhaul program.”

Folley also said, “We can ill-afford cost increases that place us at a disadvantage versus our global competitors.”

We are also told “more than 130 economists predicted the legislation would discourage companies from hiring more workers and would cause reduced hours and wages for those already employed.”

Let’s hope that come November, we can finally stop these Dictacrats from “helping” us so much. The country can ill-afford much more of their help.

Can You Hear us Now, Congressman Baird?

by lewwaters

Tuesday March 16 saw the Just Vote No gathering held outside of Congressman Brian Baird’s Vancouver, Washington office at Howard House to send Congressman Baird the message from We The People, Vote No on this current monstrosity of a health care reform bill!

Baird maintains he has not made up his mind on how he will vote, but some Democrat loyalists see him as a “weak yes” vote. On a 2-day notice, between 150 and 200 people gathered outside of his Vancouver Office to let him know we expect a NO vote.

Being such short notice I was surprised to see how many were able to make it and was impressed at the number of candidates who were also able to come on such short notice.

Thomas Hann, of We The People got the event going with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer. He then gave a short speech on why we were there and why we expected Congressman Baird to vote NO, his legacy of honoring the will of the people in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.

Kirby Wilbur, radio host from Seattle also appeared and he too inspired the crowd with his talk.

Samuel Adams made a visit from the past to inspire the crowd with his words spoken by Tom Niewulis.

Clark County GOP Chair, Ryan Hart, thanked all for attending and speaking out.

Next came candidates Chris Widener, running against Senator Patty Murray, David Castillo, running for Baird’s seat, Jon Russell, who recently dropped out of the race for Baird’s seat and now hopes to win the seat held by Jaime Herrera in the state legislature and arriving late, due to legislative business, Jaime Herrera who also hopes to take over Baird’s seat.

Castillo and Widener were seen mingling amongst the crowd meeting voters and letting them know where they stand on issues. The Columbian’s Kathie Durbin was present interviewing candidates and listening to the short speeches.

Although past gatherings drew accusations of rowdiness or other untoward conduct, none was seen this time, either.

Shortly before 5 PM, the group marched down Evergreen Boulevard to the I-5 overpass for some sign waving and to let people know many share their concerns on how this healthcare reform bill has been put together and the methods that are planned to force it upon the American people.

I enjoyed seeing so many come out on a cloudy wet day and lend their voices together to let Congressman Baird and Clark County know that We The People still have a voice and we expect our voices to be heard and our will heeded.

UPDATE: The rally made the front page of the Columbian, Health care protesters rally outside Baird’s office along with the usual leftist twits and their bogus claims in the online story.

Castillo Calls On Opponents To ‘Go On The Record’

Will Democratic Candidates Take Position on Pelosi Plan?
Castillo calls on challengers to go on the record

Olympia, WA – David Castillo, Republican candidate running in Washington’s 3rd District, is challenging his Democratic opponents to officially declare whether they support Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to force through the current health care bill. He is calling on his fellow candidates to declare if they support the Speaker’s actions or if they would oppose her on this issue.

The declared Democratic candidates are State Senator Craig Pridemore, Maria Rodriguez-Salazar, Denny Heck and Cheryl Crist.

“Clearly, I will not be supporting Nancy Pelosi for speaker or her health care plan, but the people of southwest Washington deserve to know where the Democrats in this race stand on the issue,” asserts Castillo.

Since entering the race in May of last year – before current incumbent Brian Baird announced his retirement in December – Castillo has consistently called for private sector solutions over increased government intervention. Some of his solutions include expanding Health Savings Accounts and Association Health Plans, as well as creating a more competitive insurance market by allowing people to purchase their policies across state lines.

While national Democrats have referred to Republicans in Congress as obstructionists, Castillo has talked about his proposed solutions from the time he entered the race.

Online communications expert and blogger, Liz Mair, in her candidate profile noted that Castillo displays “a deeper understanding of health care policy, in particular, than many Republicans – and a more overt commitment to advancing conservative health care policy rather than just blocking or undoing liberal reform”.

The Castillo campaign is encouraging each candidate to make their position on Speaker Pelosi’s plan known publicly as soon as possible.

“We keep hearing that the Republicans are the party of ‘no’, but I hope that our opponents step up to the plate on this issue and don’t become the party of ‘no comment’,” states Bill Lohr, Castillo’s Communications Director.

This is one of the many reasons I continue to support Castillo over party favorites. He states his position on issues clearly and with conviction.

Many in Wa. 03 have become disillusioned with politics and leery of voting for anyone, having seen how our voices go ignored by elected officials who seem to place party above our well being. David Castillo is ready to represent us in Washington D.C. and place our interests above the interests of either party.

David was the first to file to oppose now retiring Democrat, Brian Baird. He began his campaign by meeting with people around the district and letting them get to know him. He wasn’t afraid of a tough campaign against an entrenched incumbent, entering the race in May, long before Baird announced retirement.

Looking through his campaign website, David Castillo for Congress confirms Liz Mair’s comment of

“displaying a deeper understanding of health care policy, in particular, than many Republicans—and a more overt commitment to advancing conservative health care policy rather than just blocking or undoing liberal reform.”

We voters deserve to know where candidates seeking our support and votes stand on issues that will have such a strong impact on our lives. Candidates owe it to us to come forward and openly state their positions clearly and concisely.

What Is Kathie Durbin and The Columbian Up To Now?

by lewwaters

Any regular reader of the Columbian knows that we can always count on Kathie Durbin to fawn all over Liberal Democrats and write against Republicans. It’s almost a given that whatever she writes will always be biased towards the left.

Nothing illegal in that, but objectivity in reporting is not her strong suit.

That is why I was a bit surprised to see her pen the January 26, 2010 article, Herrera pushes GOP health care reforms as if 3rd Congressional District candidate Jaime Herrera is a driving force in Olympia.

As one of the least experienced Representatives of either party in Olympia, she isn’t.

Odd in all of this is that the health care debate and program is a federal policy, not a state policy. What possible effect could state policy on health care have in regards to federal policy?

But, why that headline? Why publish something with a headline as if Jaime Herrera is the second coming?

The following day, the Columbian ran an article on the House in Olympia approving a bill authorizing Child Care workers to Unionize, a move that will surely impact and hurt single parent households and low income families that must rely on child care to watch their children while they work.

This will be the third time Jaime Herrera, supposedly a conservative Republican, has voted to authorize such a policy and somehow, she does not receive praise from the Columbian for this vote.

Could the reason they fail to mention her ongoing support for such a pro-union vote be that they know full well conservative Republicans do not agree with such moves?

How many conservative Republican candidates do you know of that receive financial support in their campaigns from the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) as does Ms. Herrera?

How many conservative candidates do you know of who even support more Unionization today?

Maybe Jaime appreciates how well the Unions have helped out the automakers and large cities like Detroit, New York and others and wish to see Washington State follow suit?

Still, I was left wondering why the Columbian did not tie her to a pro-union vote, but Kathie Durbin praised her effort on a health care position.

Then, it dawned on me. We saw this back in 2007 and 2008 as the media strongly supported the nomination of John McCain, probably one of the weakest candidates we have ever ran, for president. Obviously, they knew he was weak and having him nominated for our party would give the Democrat candidate an easier run, as we saw happen in the November vote.

Is this the move now? Is Ms. Durbin selecting such headlines and stories to convince GOP voters to select Herrera over more qualified and stronger candidates, to give the Democrats an easier run in replacing retiring Brian Baird?

After all, if they are so proud of her work in advancing health care, shouldn’t they be equally as proud of her work in advancing union membership, even though it will hurt low-income workers with children?

Let’s not allow the media to bamboozle us again and stick us with a weak unelectable candidate.

Do your homework and see for yourself just who really has the best interest of citizens in the 3rd Congressional District at heart.

Sen. Feinstein: Congress Has “Unlimited Authority” to Mandate Health Insurance

by lewwaters

For all Americans who thought our constitution placed limitations on government, think again now that the dictatorial Democrats have seized complete and total control of the country.

With attitudes like Senator Dianne Feinstein displays, you are no longer a free people, but servants of the Socialist Democrats.

VIDEO SOURCE

If Democrats now believe they have “UNLIMITED Authority” to impose whatever they wish upon us in healthcare, what else do they feel they have “UNLIMITED Authority” to take, mandate or push off on us?

Let it not be forgotten, this is the same Senator Feinstein who just days ago introduced legislation to block a solar farm power plant construction in her backyard, the Mojave Desert.

Yet, this is also the same Senator Feinstein who adamantly opposes drilling oil for our energy too!

Feinstein: On The Issues

TOO GREAT A BURDEN

by lewwaters

David Castillo, candidate for Washington State 3rd Congressional District, illustrates the massive load we are seeing placed on our future, especially our children and grandchildren, with the level of spending we are seeing in Washington D.C. today.

Brian Baird, our current elected representative, helped place this load on the future by voting for these massive borrow and spend bills. We cannot saddle our children with such debt and ruin their future.

Each generation has always tried to pass on a better country than they inherited. We can do no less and if we pass this one, there will be no future for America or our children.

Brian Baird has shown us he is out of touch with our values and lives. He is poised to vote for a massive takeover of our healthcare system, placing it in the very hands of those who are responsible for our rapid increase in deficit spending, more than in the entire history of our country.

Visit David Castillo’s web site and see whether or not you agree he is the candidate best suited to replace Brian Baird.

What A Tangled Web Moveon.org Weaves, When They Practice To Deceive

by lewwaters

Some time ago, and I still don’t know how, I ended up on Moveon.org’s mailing list. Imagine, as far right-winged radical that many consider me, I receive Moveon.org’s deceitful emails on nearly a daily basis.

Long ago I decided not to remove my name from their list just so I could keep an eye on how easily the left deceives themselves and each other. The email I received today, September 15, 2009 came as no surprise then as I opened it and read the following,

“Dear MoveOn member,

Did you know that some insurance companies actually consider domestic violence a “pre-existing condition”? That is, women whose boyfriends or husbands have beaten them could actually be denied coverage for that reason. (1)

It’s sickening. And it’s just one more reason we need a public health insurance option-a health care plan that won’t put profits before basic human decency.

It’s not enough to pass new regulations. Like credit card companies and big banks, health insurance companies will always be looking to find a new loophole.

And while insurance companies rack up profits by denying coverage, their conservative friends in Congress are busy defending them from the competition they’d face from a public plan-and arguing we should give them another chance to clean up their act.”

While regular followers of Moveon.org just accept those claims as truth, never questioning a fellow liberal, I decided to look deeper since Moveon.org supplied links to just who supposedly made these ludicrous claims.

Note ‘1’ is to “Domestic violence is a ‘pre-existing condition’?,” SEIU Blog, September 11, 2009 http://www.moveon.org/r?r=84439&id=17236-9296068-WXTENyx&t=5

Being the good little radical right-winged “ginned-up” brown-shirted mobster I have been often referred to, I got myself all “wee wee’d” up and clicked the link, which took me to the SEIU blogsite and a post supplied by a Maria Tchijov, where I discovered,

“Insurance companies have used the excuse of “pre-existing conditions” to deny coverage to countless Americans. From cancer patients to the elderly suffering from arthritis, these organizations have padded their profit margins by limiting coverage to patients deemed “high risk” because of their medical condition.

But, in DC and eight other states, including Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming, insurance companies have gone too far, claiming that “domestic violence victim” is also a pre-existing condition.

The link supplied in the second paragraph of Maria Tchijov’s post leads to Healthreform.gov site and to the post “Coverage Denied: How the Current Health Insurance System Leaves Millions Behind.”

At the base of the page I read,

“This is an official U.S. Government Web site managed by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.”

Obama, any one?

Okay, still interested in the claim made by Moveon.org, I scrolled down and found the sentence,

“It is still legal in nine states for insurers to reject applicants who are survivors of domestic violence, citing the history of domestic violence as a pre-existing condition. (8)”

Clicking on (8), I was taken to the footnote, “8 National Women’s Law Center. Nowhere to Turn: How the Individual Health Insurance Market Fails Women, 2008.

Fair enough, they quote a magazine article from 2008. I did a web search through Google and found a pdf copy of the article.

On page 10 of the article, I read,

Rejection: Insurers Refusing to Sell Women Coverage
In most states, insurers are free to reject individuals applying for coverage in the individual market. Many women face such rejection at this underwriting stage of purchasing insurance for a wide range of reasons. For example, women have greater health needs than men and are more likely than men to suffer from a chronic condition requiring ongoing treatment, like asthma or arthritis.19 These conditions can lead to rejection of coverage. In addition, if during the medical underwriting process the insurer discovers that an applicant underwent a past C-section, the company may charge her a higher premium, impose an exclusionary period during which it refuses to cover another C-section or pregnancy, or even reject her for coverage altogether unless she has been sterilized or is no longer of childbearing age. 20 Insurers in D.C. and the following nine states are allowed to deny coverage to domestic violence survivors: Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming. 21” (Emphasis added)

Okay, there is the claim again with footnote ’21” which leads to,

“Women’s Law Project & Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, FYI: Insurance Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence, 2002 Supplement 2 (2002), http://www.womenslawproject.org/brochures/InsuranceSup_DV2002.pdf. In the early 1990s, advocates discovered that insurers had denied applications for coverage submitted by women who had experienced domestic violence. See, e.g., 142 Cong. Rec. E1013-03, at E1013-14 (June 5, 1996) (statement of Rep. Pomeroy) (“the Pennsylvania State Insurance Commissioner surveyed company practices in Pennsylvania and found that 26% of the respondents acknowledged that they considered domestic violence a factor in issuing health, life and accident insurance”). Since 1994, the majority of states have adopted legislation prohibiting health insurers from denying coverage based on domestic violence, but nine states and D.C. offer no such protection to survivors of domestic violence. Even though Vermont lacks legislation specifically prohibiting discrimination against domestic violence survivors, the state requires guaranteed issue of all individual insurance plans.”

Clicking the link supplied in the footnote took me to a brochure published in 2002, “FYI: Insurance Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence,” which supplied the experience of 3 battered women escaping their batterers and listing one who had trouble obtaining car insurance due to her having legally changed her Social Security Number and not wanting to supply it to the insurance company who would then check her driving record, as everybody has to do to obtain car insurance.

Another who had problems obtaining a property damage settlement over her abusive husband setting their house on fire and another who also had trouble obtaining a settlement over her house being burned down by an abusive male.

In both of the latter cases, after negative publicity in newspapers, both were paid the claims.

Further into the brochure I found information listing Federal Legislative Activity designed to end any discrimination on insurance coverage against battered women. Listed there is the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the “Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999.”

The act was introduced in the U.S. Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican of Texas) and in the U.S. House of Representatives by Jim Leach (R-Iowa). The third lawmaker associated with the bill was Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R-Virginia).

While the Women’s Law Project brochure claims,

“This act applies to the financial services industry and permits banks to sell insurance subject to state regulation. It also includes a prohibition against domestic violence discrimination among its consumer protections. Based upon insurer treatment of domestic violence victims, this law prohibits banks from considering status as a victim of domestic violence or as a provider of services to victims of domestic violence as a criterion in insurance underwriting, pricing, renewal, scope of coverage or payment of claims. It applies to health and life insurance only,”

Barack Obama today believes that the Act directly helped cause the 2007 subprime mortgage financial crisis. But that is another subject unrelated to Moveon.org’s claim of “some insurance companies actually consider domestic violence a ‘pre-existing condition’.”

What I do see is a very intricate web of deceit through several different websites arriving back at examples of car insurance and property claims being denied.

Even though the states listed may, and I emphasis may, have not have passed a state law directly prohibiting insurance companies from denying health insurance to victims of domestic violence, does not the provision written into the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act by the three Republicans that submitted it preclude them from actually denying health insurance?

Also in Moveon.org’s email I read,

“We’ve all heard the tragic stories about how health insurance companies use the ‘pre-existing conditions’ rule to deny coverage to people suffering from chronic disease.

But extending it to domestic violence victims is simply beyond the pale-and it’s perfectly legal in eight states and the District of Columbia. In fact, one survey found that 8 of the 16 largest insurers in the country have used domestic violence as a factor in denying coverage.

These outrages won’t end until we force private insurance companies to compete with a high-quality, affordable public plan that’ll keep them honest.

Seeing how the steps have been taken to arrive at this tearful insinuation of abused women being denied any medical coverage or care, perhaps it is Moveon.org who needs to be “kept honest” or just ignored.

HR 3400: That “Non-Existent” Republican Alternative

by lewwaters

Throughout August and September, we heard Democrats crying how Republicans have no alternative to their raping of the health care system of America. In a “Fact-Check” Card issued to officials and made avaiable to followers, the claim was made, Republicans “have refused to release a plan to the public.”

Introduced on July 30, 2009, prior to recess, was HR 3400 – Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2009, introduced by Representative Tom Price R-GA
