Making Clark County Government Better

by lewwaters

CCBGClark County Washington sits in an awkward position at the southern most point of Washington State where the Columbia River separates the state from its Southern Neighbor, Oregon.

Positioned where we are, Washington State often ignores us, except of course when the time comes to want taxes, and Oregon treats us as their bedroom, the hicks to north they like to poke fun at.

All too often our elected officials, seeing Portland, Oregon as that “economic powerhouse” south of us, cater to the whims of Oregon over the desires of Clark County citizens.

Ring Out The Old and Ring In The New

by lewwaters

Teabag, madJust hours from now we will be bidding adieu to 2012 and welcoming in 2013 with uncertain prospects in our future.

2012 saw several disappointments for conservatives as the march towards socialism in America increases, embraced by those who fall for whatever canard they are spoon-fed by the leftist pundits in the lamestream media.

Almost unbelievable was seeing Barack Obama, after four dismal years at the helm of the country, easily swept back into office in November. That all indicators point to us being much worse off than when he and his party seized the country, he easily won reelection against Mitt Romney amid more empty promises of how much better he will make the country, even though are more divided today than we have been in several decades.

The Columbian’s Hate Fest With the Electoral College

by lewwaters

Seems once again, the responsibility of educating the college indoctrinated editorial board at the Columbian, the unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, falls on a regular High School Graduate. Every so often they seem to feel they are smarter than the framers of our constitution and founders of this great federal Republic, the United States of America. They are far from it.

The Columbian has a long history of hate towards the Electoral College system of selecting our President. It matters little to them that the system has worked just fine since its inception at the founding of our country, 4 times doing as designed to represent the will of the states and not the majority of people, the Columbian editorial board runs editorial after editorial bashing it, admitted to by editorial page editor John Laird as “one of my favorite crusades: bashing the Electoral College” in an October 12, 2008 editorial.

Garbage as Usual?

by lewwaters

Okay, time for a little levity. I couldn’t help but note the humor in an email received this AM from the City of Vancouver, especially considering it is 5 days before election day.

Actually addressing the recent labor dispute of garbage collectors in the Puget Sound area, I can’t help but chuckle reading the headline this close to election day, even though no city officials are up for election.
