Don’t Sit Home

by lewwaters

Soldiers TearsFor some time now you have seen the post stuck to the top, Concerts for a Cause ~ The Cause is 4 Vets addressing a very worthy event to be held tomorrow, Aug 6. By this time tomorrow the blog should return to normal, after I return from a great evening enjoying the best entertainment the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

As a certified car nut, I will also spend some time looking over some of the most awesome classics, hot rods and customs people in the Northwest own, many self-built.

Of all of the Concerts for a Cause planned this month, this one supporting  the Clark County Veterans Court promises to be the very best one, featuring stellar entertainment like Flexor T, Mark Stevenz as Elvis, award winners as fiddler champion Cynthia Hamm, guitarist Doug Smith of Three Together, Nashville Artist Tom Mann.

Click the link above to sample the entertainment you will be enjoying.

Concerts for a Cause ~ The Cause is 4 Vets

Vet Camas Dog Tag 4 Summer was a little late coming this year, but it is here and with it come our summer activities. Swimming, hiking, sprucing up our yards or what have you, we get outside, shake off the winter doldrums and enjoy the summer.

Along with our personal activities come community events where we choose to gather around a common theme, compare our labors or just enjoy some fine entertainment, often for a small admission price to fund a favored charity.

We in the Pacific Northwest are very fortunate as we have an abundance of extremely talented people who lend their talents to causes in benefit of others and put on some great shows. We also have some really great causes they choose to get behind and support.

Regular readers know of this blog’s strong support of the Clark County Veterans Court that assists deserving Veterans with readjusting from war footing back into civilian society by promoting events organized in support of the Veterans Court.

World Class Entertainment on Behalf of Veterans

by lewwaters

Veterans CourtWe all enjoy good entertainment as well as helping our Veterans when they are in need. As previously shown, we have a great chance to do both at the same time this Valentine’s Day here in Vancouver, Washington.

Valentine’s Dinner With Elvis – Supporting Veterans

Although tickets are selling well, there are still a few available for you to spend an enjoyable evening with your sweetheart and be entertained like we rarely see in Vancouver.

The headlining acts lined up are unmatched in our area and can only be described as ‘world class’ and all for just $20 a ticket, far less than you would expect for such a line-up of talent.

A sampling of some of the entertainment lined up to perform,

Valentine’s Dinner With Elvis – Supporting Veterans

by lewwaters

Vet ElvisFew entertainers have achieved the lasting notoriety as did Rock n Roll singing star, Elvis Presley. Presley died August 16, 1977 after a 24 year career on stage and in movies with his fame growing after his death, spawning the careers of many impressionists keeping his name and songs alive.

Many of today’s ‘Tribute Artists’ hadn’t been born when Presley was reaching the peak of his fame, but even they draw crowds to their shows as well as a competitions held throughout the land, judging which ones offer the overall best tributes to Elvis.

We are fortunate in Clark County to have one of the better artists, Mark Stevenz, a top 20 in the world Elvis Tribute Artist who has performed and delighted crowds all over North America, including Las Vegas and Memphis.

Concert, Classic Car Show to Benefit Veterans Court

by lewwaters

Our community remains very blessed in so many ways and one blessing we enjoy is taking care of and looking out for our Veterans, knowing the price they have paid for us. We have some of the strongest Veteran supporting communities in the United States and our citizens turn out in large numbers to support our Veterans, as seen every year on Memorial Day and the attendance at our Veterans Day Parade at Vancouver Barracks.

But Veterans are human too and occasionally, a small few may stray and run afoul of the legal system. As was outlined in a previous post, that is where our Veterans Court comes in, diverting minor infractions that might otherwise land someone in jail to Veterans support groups in an effort to help a struggling Veteran instead of just throwing them to the wolves.

The previous post announced a “Cruise-in” to raise needed funding for the Veterans Court and was not only well attended, offered everybody who could make it a great day of fun and enjoyment.

Another event is now planned to benefit our Veterans Court that promises to be even more fun and enjoyment for all ages, especially if you are a “Certified Car Nut.”
