Columbian Gets It Wrong Again, In Favor of a Democrat – Updated

by lewwaters

Newspaper 2Once again we see the Columbian living up to their reputation of being the daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, hard pressed to give credit to Republicans for their work and crediting it to the newest, least experienced State Senator recently elected in the 49th Legislative District, Annette Cleveland, who’s main experience seems to be her boasting of coming from an ILWU family.

At about 6 AM this very morning, the Columbian posted online Tax bill brings lawmakers together with the claim,

“Senate Bill 5325, which seeks to add Clark County to a list of “rural” counties that receive .09 percent of their sales taxes back each year, has received support from both Democrats and Republicans from Southwest Washington. House Bill 1553 is the companion bill.”

“Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, sponsored the Senate bill with three Republicans.”

Democrats Continue the Highjack of the GOP Legacy

by lewwaters

I’ve lost count of how many times liberal Democrats have bashed the Republicans for being mean-spirited, racist, cold hearted, evil and just the worst sort of people to ever exist on the face of the earth. Every election or whenever faced with a major piece of legislation they wish to promote, Democrats pull out the race card, the homosexual card and in spite of calls for civility, engage in some of the worst condemnations imaginable of conservatives and Republicans.

Listening to Democrats, especially since the 2008 elections that saw Barack Obama installed at the helm of the nation, the first ever Republican president, Abraham Lincoln was actually a strong liberal Democrat. Dwight Eisenhower, who led Allied Forces to Victory in World War Two and who was president during the 1950’s was really a strong liberal Republican.

And perhaps the strangest of all of their highjacking is after heavily bashing of Ronald Reagan during his time in office and since, he too is being embraced as more of a liberal Democrat.

It has even been said by liberals, “Obama is more of a Reagan/Eisenhower Republican than a Truman Democrat.”

Race huckster columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. even wrote a column titled Reagan wouldn’t recognize — or like — today’s GOP.

Perhaps in regards to their lack of spine today, he might be on the right track, but that is not what Pitts is saying. No, he is actually condemning Arizona’s Republican Jan Brewer because she had the audacity to wag her finger in the Lord High Mighty Barack Obama’s face and it was caught on camera. Blasphemy!

Obama’s Job Creation Lie

by lewwaters

Looking around at some newspapers from across the country, I stumbled upon the following ad at the Orlando Sentinel.

I’m sure Democrats believe this chart and want others to. But, going to the very source the Obama campaign claims to use we find.

If you note, when Democrats were swept into congressional power in January 2007, in order to correct an “unbearable” unemployment rate, the rate of unemployment was 4.7%. After two years of their “fixing” things under the leadership of then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, unemployment grew to 7.8% when Obama was inaugurated in January 2009.

Did Ron Paul Really Claim to be a Democrat?

by lewwaters

A brief excerpt from the January 7, 2012 New Hampshire Debate

Sounds like that is just what he claimed.

Do we want someone in office who can’t even tell what party he claims he is a member of?

Washington State Democrat Party Chair, Dwight Pelz Shows A Disconnect

by lewwaters

If there was ever any doubt just how disconnected Democrats really are from the struggling middle class, Dwight Pelz, in his latest effort to instill fear and mislead the public in the run-up to the 2012 election shows it.

Democrats Come Out In Support of Occupy Wall Street

by lewwaters

Any doubt left that the Democrat Party has lost touch with mainstream America and is more interested in the destruction of America as we have always known it is laid to rest;

While the Democrat Party now demonizes corporations and continues to lay all blame on everybody else but them, they now come out in support of a disjointed group of malcontents whose goal is a total disruption of your life so they can receive a free ride. Democrats forget their own complicity in the continually degrading economy as they ask for more Billions in stimulus, promote bypassing of congress by Barack Obama to implement his radical leftwing views and continue to promote a socialist takeover of America.

More Liberal Democrat Double Standard

by lewwaters

Now that rebels in Libya are close to overthrowing Qadhafi, the following photo has shown up.

First off, can any liberal explain what is wrong with a little physical work? Has Obama ever actually performed any physical work? I doubt it, not with the soft hands I see on TV.

Patty Murray’s Odd Request for Campaign Funds, From Koch Industries!

by lewwaters

In spite of all of the vile jabs Democrats have spewed towards Republicans and GOP donors, they apparently like their money too. Senator Patty Murray, in her role as chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee recently sent out such a request to one of the most hated GOP donors, Koch Industries.

Seattle Times

Koch executive Phillip Ellender replied to Sen. Murray wondering if “DSCC politics have become so cynical that you actually expect people whom you routinely denounce to give DSCC money.”

Part of the request for funds indicated that if the donation was large enough they could receive “an invitation to join you and other Democratic leaders at a retreat in Kiawah Island this September.”

No shame, Patty?

The question now is, will this rise to the scorn of the Columbian as did Raymond and Louise Denny receiving a campaign survey/donation request from the GOP back in 2009?

In Washington State, It Is “Majority Rules,” Unless the “Majority Rules”

by lewwaters

Like every other state, ours has a state constitution that just like the U.S. Constitution, is considered the ‘law of the land.’ It was written and adopted as the state came into being and after much consideration and debate.

Like other states, ours also has a list of “rights” that we the people take for ourselves. Number one on our Declaration of Rights is, “All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.”

The very cornerstone of our system of governance is that all powers to government are granted “from the people, by the people and for the people.” A simpler way to state it would be “majority rule.” With some exceptions, that has served us well. A notable exception would be when Black Americas were wrongfully denied their constitutional rights simply because of their skin color in a few states.

That too was corrected by a “majority rule” vote.

But for the most part, “majority rule” has functioned pretty well.

Jim Jacks Cracks the Door a Little

by lewwaters

Since the abrupt resignation of Democrat Jim Jacks as representative of Washington’s 49th legislative district on March 25, it has become almost as if he never existed. A total blackout on word about him suddenly quitting immediately went up.

His website was scrubbed and his name removed from the roster even before word of the sudden abandonment of constituents was made public. Speculation on the ‘why’ was heavily discouraged in the comments section of the local paper, the Columbian.

Two requests for public records that might shed some light on his rapid exit were rejected with the notice of, “Your request makes assumptions about both the existence of records and our ability to provide them. Without commenting on the existence of any such records, I should point out that this request encompasses records which are not public records as defined by state law.”

Clark Dems Decide to Drag Their Feet On Replacing Quitter Jim Jacks

by lewwaters

Mike Heywood, chairman of the 49th Legislative District Democratic Central Committee assigned the task of replacing Jim Jacks, who abruptly quit his office, abandoning constituents March 25, has put the brakes on filling the empty seat, leaving the 49th Legislative District under represented during session.

Democrats Rep. Jim Moeller and Clark County Commissioner Steve Stuart have urged the “slow-down” according to the Columbian article.

Heywood, who initially favored a quicker replacement of the quitter Jacks now says, “they don’t need the vote in Olympia. As that has become more of a shared opinion, the pressure for speed is off,” indicating how comfortable the Democrats are with their majority an ability to shove through any legislation they desire, constituents be damned.

Moeller, indicating most of the work this session has already been done said, “I think our strategy is to put forward our best candidates.”

Would that be like putting forth Jim Jacks since 2008 just so he could abandon constituents 2 weeks ago, saying he did not want the reasons discussed publicly?

More Dem Civility, GOP Wants to “Kill Women”

by lewwaters

From Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) “This is probably one of the worst times we’ve seen because the numbers of people elected to Congress. I went through this as co-chair of the arts caucus. In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women.”

Thank goodness Democrats are keeping it civil.

The Cone of Silence Descends Over Clark County

by lewwaters

It’s been just over a week since the abrupt and mysterious resignation of 49th legislative district representative Jim Jacks, citing “personal reason he did not wish discussed publicly.” We in the 49th, now sitting without adequate representation in Olympia, continue to hear nothing but silence in why the man elected just in November so suddenly abandoned his constituents and quit.

From the first mention of his Friday March 25 resignation there appears to be a “cone of silence” lowered throughout the media allegedly covering the story. Warnings were posted in comments on the Columbian of against any speculation of why the resignation came about so abruptly even though Sen. Craig Pridemore told KOMO News they had been discussing the resignation with Jacks for a couple of days.

Unlike former Governor Sarah Palin, who publicly announced her resignation in July 2009 and coming out giving solid reasons for doing so, or hounding former 19th legislative district representative Richard Curtis who had 14 articles written on him by the Columbian in a 5 day period, all that is heard from the Columbian on Jacks quitting his constituents is “zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.”

Democrats in Olympia Give Washington State Citizens the Finger… Again!

by lewwaters

Once again, ignoring all economic woes affecting the state, turning a blind eye to a 35% increase in Illegal Aliens in the state, while the rest of the country showed a slight decline or remained steady, a bill to block granting Illegal Aliens in the state a valid Washington drivers license was killed in the Senate in the waning seconds before the “cut-off” time, where no non-budget, Senate bill may be passed and referred on to the House.

With 5 minutes to go before that “cut-off,” Senator Mark Schoesler (R-Ritzville, Adams County) motioned for consideration of SB 5407, a bill “Concerning the issuance of drivers’ licenses, drivers’ instruction permits, juvenile agricultural driving permits, and identicards.”

Senator Schoesler was attempting to allow the Senate to vote on the bill that was blocked from the Senate calendar by the Democrat Speaker Lisa Brown (Spokane). His motion failed 23-25 with this bills primary sponsor, Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, (D-Camano Island) joining the ‘No’ votes.

Of that apparent ‘flip-flop,’ Haugen said,

“Nothing is ever dead in the Legislature. I’m going to go talk to the governor. I’d ask the governor that she needs to stand and take leadership in this role. She needs to recognize what’s happening in this nation.”

When was the last time governor Gregoire actually stood up for citizens in Washington State? If the Democrat Speaker refuses to recognize what is happening in the country, what makes her believe the Democrat governor will?

Washington Governor Gregoire, “Cancel the 2012 Presidential Primary Election”

by lewwaters

In her ongoing quest to slash costs to the state, Washington Governor Christine Gregoire is calling for the 2012 presidential primary election to be canceled. Delegates to national conventions would instead be selected via caucuses.

Secretary of State Sam Reed, a Republican said,

“I join Governor Gregoire in reluctantly asking the Legislature to suspend the 2012 Presidential Primary in Washington. Ever since the Legislature approved the presidential primary in 1989 as a people’s initiative to the Legislature, the primary has been a very popular way to engage average citizens, not just party activists, in the process of helping nominate candidates for President of the United States. But at the same time, we acknowledge that Washington faces a grave budget shortfall and that many important public services must be suspended or eliminated. Suspending this election will save taxpayers more than $10 million. Ordinarily, I would be the last to propose suspending an election, but these are not ordinary times and we all are looking for ways to tighten our belts and live within our means. I look forward to Washington resuming the presidential primary in 2016.”

Washington State Republican Party Chair Luke Esser disagrees saying

“Eliminating the presidential primary directly contradicts the will of the people as expressed by Initiative 99 in 1989, and it disenfranchises military voters serving overseas and many other voters.”

81 Year-Old Democrat Reads Playboy! This is News?

by lewwaters

I make no secret of taking pot shots at liberals and Democrats and lately I have been pointing out ridiculous items directed at Republicans that either aren’t very newsworthy or have no relevance to the story published in the Columbian.

I can do no less when I see something presented as “news” that is either irrelevant to the situation we face in the country or is just dumb from Republicans!

It has long been my personal opinion that the Monica Lewinsky story was intentionally leaked knowing well that Republicans will latch onto any titillating story concerning a political opponent, while the general public will just poo poo it, leaving the GOP standing there drooling, looking fools and the subject, Bill Clinton in that case, walks away with little damage.
