What Happens With the “Will of the Voters?”

by lewwaters

C-TranIt is well known that the Lazy C and editor Lefty Lou are total hypocrites when to comes to matters and issues affecting our community. We have seen far too many times they support neglecting the “will of the voters” to move ahead with something in spite of public opposition.

But we also see when it is what they and the downtown mafia want, such as the Home Rule Charter and the recent ordinance proposed by County Commissioner Mielke, they fall back on “will of the voters” that passed the Home Rule Charter to oppose the ordinance that was defeated just yesterday.

But, over the years, that “will of the voters” did not seem to matter as repeatedly, voters rejected any proposal funding CRC light rail and BRT down Fourth Plain, just to mention two.

Lazy C Pegs Hypocrisy Scale ….. Again!

by lewwaters

Tits on a bullLeave it to the blight on our community, the local daily mouthpiece for the Democrat Party better known hereabouts as the “Lazy C” to always show us what true hypocrisy looks like. Under the leadership of Lefty Lou, they never fail to show complete and utter hypocrisy as they work towards implementing a one-party rule under the leftists.

The Monday, Dec 15, 2014 “In Our View” editorial gives us an excellent example of just that.

I’m not going to delve too much on the actual subject, County Commissioner Tom Mielke’s proposal to “prevent County Administrator Mark McCauley from consolidating or eliminating any of the departments as he assumes new power as county manager when the charter goes into effect Jan. 1” as that issue will be settled soon after a public hearing and open discussion between the County Commissioners.

Investigations, Lawsuits and Injunctions: Oh My

by lewwaters

Greg Kimsey 2The dust from the 2014 election has barely settled as we now see allegations of wrongdoing on the part of County Auditor, Greg Kimsey from the Clark County R3publicans and calls for an injunction to be filed to stop the restructuring of the C-Tran Board of Directors from the Clark County Commissioners.

As can be expected, sides are forming both supporting and blasting the moves from the left and the right, with finger pointing, cries of sour grapes, accolades for the effort and even cries of hypocrisy.

I am not a part of either side in this, but let me say at the outset that I lost all respect I once had for Greg Kimsey in how he supported the Home Rule Charter, though I am not convinced it rises to any illegal activity. That will be left up to the State Attorney General to determine as County Prosecutor Tony Golik has rightfully referred the matter upstairs over his own conflict of interest in the matter or the appearance of such.

BRT Lawsuit Filed

by lewwaters

Lawsuit GavelOnce again we witness a group of Clark County citizens filing a lawsuit against C-Tran over their moving ahead with plans for Bus Rapid Transit after voters overwhelmingly voted down a funding measure for construction of BRT.

Two years ago this blog raised the question Voters Slap Down CRC & C-TRAN, But Will It Matter? and wrote of subsequent efforts by C-Tran to Bypass Voters on BRT and LRT to see them moving ahead with an approval of BRT this past April.

I was not included in the loop on this lawsuit, only receiving copies of the Summons and Complaint with no explanation or background on it. But it is obvious that a familiar group of names got together to seek an attorney to file it.

Dog FrustrationIn the November 10, 2014 Lazy C: CRC lingers in long-range plans

Ask yourself, why didn’t they admit any of this BEFORE the election where they pushed for a transformation in county government?

This blog was among the few that shined light on the Home Rule Charter effort being in part to resurrect the comatose CRC light rail project. While others focused on claims of diluting the Commissioners to councilors and gerrymandering of districts in hopes of benefiting the left, this blog focused on motives of the effort.

In part, that effort was to undo the 2012 election to oust two conservative Commissioners that stood in the way of the CRC light rail project at the behest of the citizens of Clark County. It grew out of an effort to recall them that was unwarranted.

BRT is Dead

by lewwaters

(A spoof by Professor Robert Dean)

JEFFREY HAMM, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, C-TRAN

JEFFREY HAMM, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, C-TRAN

Jeff Hamm: Hey, Lew! Thanks for agreeing to meet with me.

Lew Waters: No problem, Jeff. I wouldn’t have chosen Bryan Wray’s coffee shop, though.

Jeff Hamm: Sorry about that, Lew. I need the cover.

Lew Waters: Oh, you mean the tar and feathers stuff. Look, I wouldn’t…

Jeff Hamm: I’m not, really – just precautions.

Lew Waters: What’s up?

Jeff Hamm: Did you bring your tape recorder?

Jeanne Stewart vs Craig Pridemore: Who Will Stand For Citizens?

by lewwaters

If you have any doubts about who will stand up for you and the rest of the citizens of Clark County, let this brief exchange put that to rest as both Jeanne E. Stewart and Craig Pridemore are asked about the citizen vote on Bus Rapid Transit in Clark County.

Jeanne E. Stewart has my vote and support as she will stand up for us and not downtown special interests. She honors our vote, Craig Pridemore does not.

Real Congestion Relief? Fuggedaboutit!

by lewwaters

Brancaccio FuggedaboutitNow that the plug has been pulled on the bloated CRC light rail project, it is very apparent that proponents of that boondoggle are going to oppose any and every suggestion to actually work towards easing congestion along the I-5 Corridor through Vancouver, out of pure, hateful spite.

Never mind that their darling light rail extension from Portland that commanded the project never enjoyed the support of Clark County citizens, it was light rail or nothing at all, evidence by the calls of “no light rail, no bridge” from several proponents.

Figg Engineering has now provided the community with a proposal for an East County Bridge , a proposal they drew up at no charge to taxpayers. Contrast that to the CRC light rail project that sucked over $200 Million away from taxpayers, leaving us with nothing to show for our money, just bitter memories of out of touch elected officials ignoring our voices and attempting to go against our desires.

Prosper and Thrive?

by lewwaters

Never Push

As you all know, I have been subjected to a massive smear campaign of late because of exposing some underhanded tactics by the Clark County Republican Party. It backfired on them as a surprising number of people, young and old, Democrat and Republican even an Independent or two sent me messages of support, agreeing that what I exposed needed to be exposed.

It is widely believed that this current group of what I can only describe as “hotheads” was funded in their takeover of the CCGOP by current County Commissioner, David Madore, also owner of US Digital. Whether he has any direct involvement in this smear campaign, I really do not know, but he told me he does not and added he has no idea who they are.

Meanwhile, Out Back at the Woodshed

by lewwaters

Woodshed 1Larry Patella has been a staunch advocate for the people of Clark County & Vancouver, Washington. He has been in the forefront of many battles with the City Council’s desires to separate taxpayers from their hard-earned paychecks over several years.

And circumstances have proven him correct many times over, even though ultimately, taxpayers have ended up stuck with a bill they shouldn’t have. The list is too numerous to post here, but all too often his warnings have fallen on deaf Democrat ears and we taxpayers have ended up with the bills.

But, when he is wrong, he’s wrong and when he is too stubborn to admit it, even though several show him where he is wrong, I must defend what is right, let the chips fall where they may.

Updated: C-Tran Gang of Five Sells Out Voters….. Again.

by lewwaters

C-TranYes, some of the same five that screwed us last year in the rushed approval of the contract with Trimet voted for another rushed approval of Millions of our tax dollars to go for an unneeded Bus Rapid Transit System down Fourth Plain Blvd.  from Vancouver Mall to end somewhere in the vicinity of Clark College.

The original plan was to have BRT meet a light rail transit station at Clark College, but with light rail now dead, why do we need a multi-Billion dollar BRT System?

Tim Leavitt, Anne McEnerny-Ogle, Jack Burkman, Jim Irish, Steve Stuart (by phone) all voted to rush into yet another ill conceived plan that voters indicated they did not want just last year. You voted these crooks in, I didn’t.

Downtown Mafia To Target County Commissioners (Upated)

by lewwaters

Montague 2So much for all the calls of hope and change from a few years ago. If that change doesn’t suit the crooks that tried desperately to ram Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail down the throats of Clark County taxpayers, well, let’s just say the small minority of fatcats intend to take action to restore their power balance and ripping off taxpayers.

Paul Montague, who was tasked with leading the rip-off light rail project has announced his intent to resign as president of Identity Clark County to now lead a political action committee specifically to “counter the direction of commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke” according to a Lazy C article by Cami Joner.

That both were elected by wide majorities specifically by voters to change the direction of the county rubs Montague and his ilk the wrong way, displaying the disdain they hold for middle class citizens desiring to retain a little of their own paychecks so they can care better for their families.

Leavitt’s State of the City, A Travesty

by lewwaters

Leavitt Dean 6Vancouver’s Mayor, Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt gave the annual State of the City address today, March 12, 2014 at Fort Vancouver High School, his alma mater.

We all know that such speeches are designed to be boastful and filled with platitudes and claims of how good things are under the official giving them. And we also know most spin the facts to make the giver appear better than they are.

But, Leavitt took the opportunity to show just what an immature asshole he really is.

CRC Dead? Or Just In A Coma, Again?

by lewwaters

I-5 Bridge 02I can’t say it is unexpected, given strong citizen opposition and poor support in the Oregon legislature, but news is out that Oregon Governor Kitzhaber’s Sunday, March 9 deadline for funding an “Oregon Only” CRC plan to ram their financially failing light rail onto Clark County will see the demise of the project, again.

We heard this before, though. Just last year the Washington Senate failed to bring a funding measure to the floor, effectively ending Washington State’s involvement in the boondoggle.

But special interests hell bent on forcing light rail across the Columbia River, thereby enhancing their bank accounts, revived the project under an ill-advised “Oregon Only” plan, where the state of Oregon appeared to take on construction by themselves and funding to be placed on the backs of Clark County commuters with expensive tolling.

About the Inevitable CRC Cost Overruns

by lewwaters

Still think Oregon will pay for any cost overruns associated with the CRC light rail boondoggle?

Oregon State Democrat Senator Michael Dembrow is letting you know, Clark County commuters, that you will be paying for whatever it is Oregon wants.

His cavalier attitude rivals the cluelessness of Washington State Democrat State Senator Annette Cleveland as she expressed the evening of Feb 19, 2014 during the tele-town hall held with constituents of the 49th legislative district.

I’d post the audio, but I guess you’ll have to wait for the Lazy C to post it since that is the preferred source of information.

Benton Fights C-Tran/TriMet Eminent Domain

by lewwaters

Sen. Don Benton (R. 17) has introduced a new bill, SB 6125 designed to inhibit if not outright block the spurious deal between C-Tran and TriMet that allows TriMet to take Clark County property through eminent domain by C-Tran. Naturally, the CRC scammers are not pleased.

Below is video of the committee hearing the bill received Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Note C-Tran Director Jeff Hamm use of slippery language on C-Tran supports it, not mentioning he has yet to gain favorable citizen support. Also of note, Benton nails him on the time alleged to be saved crossing the river,

Mayor Leavitt, Cocky, Arrogant and Full of Himself

by lewwaters

NOTE: While my views of Tim Leavitt remain unchanged, I am beginning to seriously doubt this actually came from him.

Leavitt LaughingWinning an election to office has been known to go right to the heads of narcissistic people, those who falsely credit their own popularity for the win rather than realize the lies and negative ads on their behalf are why they won.

They falsely believe winning gives them a mandate for their views, not seeing that 63% did not even bother to vote.

Such is the case with Vancouver, Washington Mayor, Tim Leavitt, more commonly known as “the Liar” over his many lies to first win office in 2009.

The local excuse for media, the Lazy C, created a false narrative to support Leavitt and now, he apparently has let his win go to his head, even though he won by a smaller percentage, 52.09% against a first term city council member compared to 53.51% against a four term incumbent Mayor.

What Does C-Tran Have to Hide?

by lewwaters

C-TranTransparency, a word we often hear thrown about during political campaigns or read in editorials claiming we should see more of it.

Bombastic former editorial page editor for the Lazy C, John Laird, whipping up support for a new County Charter claimed in a July 14, 2013 editorial, “Commissioners run roughshod over their dual dominion of executive and legislative powers, with far too little transparency and a glaring shortage of accountability.”

November 6, 2013 saw Lazy C Madore critic Erik Hidle actually credit County Commissioner Madore for instituting an “open checkbook” online so citizens could see where our tax dollars have gone and admitting, “It’s also not the only thing Madore has done to make Clark County more transparent.”
